Milk and Juice

Necessity is the mother of invention.

I learned from experience that I can get milk for my cereal or a glass of juice without lifting the containers. If I bring my bowl of cereal to the fridge or cup for juice I can tip the carton and pour without lifting. It made me a bit more self sufficient in those early weeks. There are so many things that I couldn't do it was great to find ways that I could do some of my normal things. I had my husband leave a two liter soda bottle on the counter and then I could get my glass and ice and just tip it to pour. Whatever works!!

Hope your recovery is going well.

Amazing how creative you can be when you set your mind to it. I'm home alone for recovery, so have had to adapt to my environment. I got one of those picker-upper things and use it for everything. I take clothes out of the dryer, pick up the dog's food dish and water dishes, pick up the newspaper out in the driveway, etc. Even used it last night to switch the ceiling fan onto a higher speed without having to stretch up high to reach.

I've also found that putting the empty pan on the stove and then hauling individual things to it works better than filling the pan first and then carrying it. I wanted hard boiled eggs and just couldn't see lifting that heavy pan full of water. Put the pan on the stove, then carrying water to it, then added the eggs. Did it in reverse afterwards.

Good luck with your recovery.

Very good, ladies! I'm glad to hear that you are following instructions and finding ways to do things without the extra work of lifting too much or too often. I did the very same things!

Happy recovery!

Would be fun to see what tricks others come up with so we each don't have to be inventors!!

Thanks for the ideas!! Any other tried and true methods???

Creative recovery!!
