Low grade fever

Did anyone run a low grade fever after any of their surgeries? I have been home for almost a week now and I tend to run a low grade fever off and on. Is that normal? I was told that I would run a low grade fever if I don't get up and around. I have been getting up but not over doing it. Mostly just enough to walk to the bathroom, let out the dog etc. What do you think it might be?

Low grade fever

Hi Tonya I've moved your question over here to the Post Op forum, where other ladies who are recently post op can see it and share their experiences.

I was told by my DR that if my temperature went over 100.5 degrees, I was to call her office right away. Have you been monitoring your temperature?

low grade fevers

Hi Tonya,

I had my TAH with both ovaries removed on 4-15. I too ran low grade fevers off an on for the first week. I went to my DR and she did blood tests to rule out infection. She thinks it's hormonal even though I am on 1 mg of estradiol. The fevers stopped after the first week to week and a half.

I am still having night sweats and very emotional while my hormone leves adjust......

Hope this helps.

Low grade fever

Yes, I had a low-grade fever for about the first 10 days post-op. I didn't know if I was having hot-flashes or what at first, but it never went about 100.5, so I didn't treat it other than to dress more lightly and to drink plenty of fluids.

Do you still have the spirometer they gave you in the hospital for deep breathing? If not, take some slow deep breaths in your nose and out your mouth. This will help to prevent pneumonia while you are more sedentary during your recovery. Also, get up and walk a little around the house each hour, if possible. This will also help to prevent blood clots.

Hope you feel better each day!
