Do you get a big hole after surgery?

I am curious to know when they perform the LAVH, does it leave you feeling like you have a huge hole there. With everything gone, what is left? Do they help this by sewing you up inside a little to get the walls closer? Or are we left with something to fill up. Do you know the "Hit the bottom" comment by men.

Do you get a big hole after surgery?

Hi there!
I had a TAH on 3-18-05 and had everything removed except my left ovary. I didn't feel like I had a hole but wondered if I would before surgery. The doctor explained to me that he would create a vaginal cuff that will close the top of the vagina. It may shorten the vaginal area a little but as I understand it, it will stretch as intercourse is performed. Today, I feel as though nothing has been removed. I still feel a little pressure in my abdomen area and still get tired if I do too much but other than that I feel fine and you will to. Good luck!

Do you get a big hole after surgery?

I am 2 weeks post op TAH/BSO today and other than alot of general soreness in my belly and my back which I am using my heating pad continuously for I feel about the same as far as my insides are concerned. It doesn't feel any different as far as my intestines or bladder is concerned either. I do have some minor sticks and pressure in the area of my vaginal cuff especially when I go tee tee, but it's minor compared to what I dealt with pre op.
My Dr told me that he did pull the vaginal muscle in to create the cuff and it would be a little shorter and tighter and would require lubrication and patience when the time came to have sex but that would progressively change back to normal as time passed.
Now my back hurts if I get up and move around too much and I get more tired really easily - it's amazing how much energy it takes to shower...but all in all I feel much better than I did for months leading up to pre op.
I wish you the best and hope that everything goes well for you.

Do you get a big hole after surgery?

It does not feel like a big hole, can't even tell there is anything missing, and my DH said it does not feel any different to him either.

Do you get a big hole after surgery?

When you have a hysterectomy and the cervix is removed, the top of the vagina is sewn shut creating a vaginal cuff. The area where the uterus used to be is empty, but my doctor told me that my intestines, etc would settle into that space. I don't feel like I have a big hole and I feel the same.

Best wishes with your upcoming surgery!
