Does a tummy tuck get rid of abdominal adhesions?

Hello

I was just sitting here at my computer brainstorming. I know it can be dangerous! LOL I have lost over 45 pounds in the last year and a half. My belly droops so bad it completely covers my abdominal incision from my 4 c sections and TAH. My Gyn told me during my post op that it would tighten up and look much better. Well, I am a year out and it isn't any better. I had a lapro in Sept. which showed I have alot of scar tissue on my abdominal wall. It keeps me sore quite a bit.Sometimes I feel a ripping sensation on the left side of my abdoman when I roll over in bed. I am guessing it is scar tissue pulling. I was just wondering if a tummy tuck would get rid of some of that scar tissue at the same time?I am 43 and don't want to go through the rest of my life being sore and drooping like this. I believe if I could get rid of that extra tissue and flab I would feel a heck of alot better.

Does insurance cover anything like this?

Thanks and hugs to all of you!!

Insurance can cover what they call a "panniculectomy" if the skin hangs over the pubic area and if it causes problems like constant rashes. I think you have to document it really well before most insurance will even think about covering it. A tummy tuck can get rid of old abdominal scars and the underlying fat. I have not heard of it getting rid of much internal scar tissue but to find out for sure, go on a couple of consults with plastic surgeons in your area and see what they say. Some are free or will waive the consult fee if you ask. I had one last year and am thrilled with my results. I just wish I had known then that I would have so many other problems that might have been able to be fixed at the same time. Still, on June 15th, I am having a TVH with bladder tack and TOT urethra repair so I'm sure it will be fine. You will not know for usre if your situation can be helped until you go and ask a couple of plastic surgeons yourself. Best of luck to you!

Peggy,
While I don't know for sure, I don't think a tummy tuck would take care of internal adhesions. When I had an incision revision, the doc only went so far as to scrape the scar tissue he could see, he did not actually open me up. I would think that to get to the adhesions, they would have to do an open procedure.
