Question about thickness of lining

I'm still waiting for an appt. for my second opinion but I called my GP and asked her a few questions.

My uterine lining is 6mm. Is this too thick? She said it's probably because I haven't had a period in 2 years.

I'll be going off the meds which will mean that 3 months after that, I'll start bleeding. If it was extremely heavy before, would the thick lining make the bleeding worse?

Any answers are appreciated.

Question about thickness of lining

Hi Want2run - When I was 54 I skipped 4 months of periods and then had a doosy for a month. Didn't think too much of it but then when I started again in 2 weeks with huge clots I went to a gyn. An ultrasound showed a 14mm lining. An endo biopsy showed simple hyperplasia. A year later after 7 months of Megace and then stopping an ultrasound showed an 8mm lining and a biopsy came back complex hyperplasia - but both time w/o atypical cells. I was told any lining over 5mm should be biopsied. I've now switched gyns. Had my second D & C in March and am on a "wait and see" approach now (no meds). Have another ultrasound in June to check the thickness of the lining and then he will decide if I need another biopsy.

What meds are you on? Is your second opinion with a gyn? Let us know how it goes.

Good luck.

Mary
