Cystic Abdominal Mass

Hi! I am new to this website, and very glad that I found it! I have a 28 x 28 x 20 cm abdominal mass. My uterus is not touched - all other organs look normal - They think that it may be coming from my right ovary. I have had bloodwork that came back negative for cancer - also had an ultrasound and a CT scan. I am meeting with a gyn oc this week and surgery is probably on May 18. Anyone out there that has had anything similar?

Hi Cheer!

I'm happy you found hystersisters! It is an awesome place to gather very useful information and gain support!

I don't have an experience like your's to share with you. It's good that you are meeting with a gyn/onc and I'm glad you are able to.

Please keep us updated and I will say a prayer for you!

Cystic Abdominal Mass

Thank you so much for responding to my post! It is very comforting to know that there are so many people who know what you are about to go through. I am for sure having this huge thing removed and probably the ovarie that it is coming from. I don't know about the uterus - my gyn thinks that it is a strong possibility. I will have a pretty significant insicion though. I have had 2 c-sections but this is going to be alot different. I am worried, but just want to get this over with. I am a cheerleading coach and I want to be back on my feet by mid summer.

Thanks again, and I will keep you informed!

Also, Happy Mothers Day to all of you Moms!!!!

Cystic Abdominal Mass

Hi, don't worry , everything will be ok. I had the same problem, a huge abdominal mass (25 cm), don't know how it grew so big, never had pain. On March 24th I had the surgery, TAH, my doctor had to remove the uterus also wich was looking fine at the catskin, but it was not, and also the other ovary which had a small cyst on( it didn't show on sono) She kept the cervix. Now I am recovering, it's my 6th week, I'll stay home another 2 weeks, slowly but surely I'll get back on track. Trust your doctor and ask him (her) any question you might have. Think positive!
Good luck !

Thanks for the reassurance! What was the diagnosis of your condition? I am assuming that there was no cancer? I have been told that these are no more than big, benign, bothersome things. Did you look pregnant too? My tummy is so big! I was in Florida for Easter and was no where this big, so it must really be a fast growing thing! I can't wait to get it out. How long were you in the hospital? Also, were you back on your feet pretty quick? Please share anything that you know, I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks again, have a wonderful day! It is beautiful here in Michigan today!!!
