Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

I have noticed that when I take my vitamins, about 10 minutes later, I feel a little buzzed. It lasts for several hours.

I used to take them in the morning, and just tried today to take them after dinner. Sure enough, I felt fine all day, then I just took them about 20 minutes ago and I am getting that feeling.

I have only been taking vitamins for about 2 weeks. Here's what I take:

B12
B Complex
Calcium (with D and Magnesium)
Multi Vitamin
Fish Oil
Evening Primrose

Has anyone else ever had this? I wonder which of my pills is making me feel this way. Maybe the B12??

I have not yet had my hysterectomy, but I am taking pills as though I have....I guess I am getting ready for it. Although, everything I take I think is good anyway.....the B is b/c I don't eat red meat.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

Just to clarify.....it's not a good buzz...not like an energetic high. It's like drinking a glass of wine on an empty stomach. I am a little "out of it." I am sluggish. I don't like it.

Vitamin Buzz

Although I am a self-confessed vitamin freak I have never had the experience you describe with them. Prometrium is the only thing that ever gave me that kind of buzz and it is known to sometimes cause dizziness and/or sleepiness.

Maybe, try eliminating the B12 and see what happens? If that does not work you might want to start eliminating others to see if you can find the source of the unpleasant sensation. Niacin is another possibility as it can cause flushing in some people. Diana

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

I read an article a couple of years ago about insomnia, and it said not to take vitamins later than mid-afternoon.

It didn't say why, mind you, and now I wonder if it might have to do with what you are experiencing!

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

Maybe that's why I am up and on the computer at 4:45am looking for new doorknobs online!

Didn't even put the two together.....this is my first night taking them after dinner.

Thanks!

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

I have the same kind of buzzing feeling, mostly like my scalp is crawling and didn't know if its low estrogen, but it crossed my mind that it might be the vit. sup. I added. What I take is Flaxseed oil, B-50 Complex, Vit E and a multi-vit. So there are 3 of them we take the same. The B-50 contains a lot of B-12.

Don't know if this is any help or not. Also around the same time I started taking Prometrium also, so maybe thats it?...

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

Hi there

Why don't you try only one a day and see if you get a reaction. It could be that it's a combination problem, but it could also be one of them causing the reaction. There's no way you're going to find out unless you knock them all off, and then reintroduce one at a time. If you do that and none of them separately cause the reaction, then it's probably the combination of two or more. You're going to have to do quite a bit of detective work before you sort this out. Good luck!

Getting "Buzzed" off of Vitamins???

Hi,

B vitamins can be energizing. I was told to take mine in the morning. I would also suggest cutting them out to see if it helps. And multis have gotten so fancy now. Often they put in herbals that are energizing. For example I can't tolerate Ginseng...it makes me feel like I've had 10 cups of coffee. So..I'd check the ingredients of the multi. You might need to switch to a more basic formula. The other things you are taking would not create a buzzed feeling, and are typically calming.

Good Luck!
