I just had an abdominal hysterectomy; my uterus, tubes, and ovaries were removed. I am having a difficult time reminding myself to take it easy. I'm so used to doing whatever I wanted to do and to have my body stop me from doing these things is very difficult and somewhat depressing. I'm trying to enjoy my time off from work, but I find myself getting bored. I've read three books so far; in the process of crocheting an afaghan; and knitting a purse. I'm trying to keep busy, but it isn't the busy work that I am used to doing. I'm glad I found this site; it really helps to read what others have gone through and what to expect as I recover. What really gets me is this "swelly belly"; I've always had a belly thanks to childbirth, but this takes the cake

I hope everyone has a speedy recovery; my heart goes out to all of you.

Welcome. I had my TAH 7 weeks ago and am back to work. I really really miss being off. The weeks seemed to fly by for me. Except for the occasional URK! I can pretty much do what I was doing before the surgery.

If you have a home computer, have you tried The Sims game? (You can create houses and people. Sort of like playing with dolls - but these dolls have a mind of their own!) It turned out to be quite addictive. www.sims.com for further explanations.

I've almost got my afghan done.

I enjoyed the solitude and puddering around the house not doing very much and watching spring finally get here.

I had a TLH/BSO 7 1/2 weeks ago and went back to work after 6 weeks. I got bored staying home and not being able to do much besides reading, but now that I'm back at work and feeling fine, I sure wish I was at home!

Enjoy the time off to heal..you'll be back to work soon enough and staying at home will be but a distant memory!

Take Care of yourself....will think of you with envy.....

I am 3 and half weeks post op on a TVH. I, too have had a hard time sitting still.

What has helped me is my body warns me with pain. In the evenings I get either cramp like pain or back pain (since you cant use your stomach muscles, your back over compensates if I overdue it.

A wake up call is reading about women who busted their stitches at 4 weeks post op and had to go back to surgery. Or reading about lesions... if you heal wrong you can pay for it later.

You have only one time to heal right. Everything else will wait. Dust, clean mirrors, write snail mail, and e-mail. Fix pictures...I know boring...but your body will thank you.

Taking my own advice...I wish you well.
