Post Rectocele/Cystocele Repair Questions

I am 3-1/2 weeks post-op from Rectocele/Cystocele Repair with sling. And, other than some bladder retention/spasm problems, I seem to be healing fine.

But, I've noticed in the last couple of days that when I sit down it feels like a hard knot in my perineum area. It feels something like sitting on a walnut, and it's uncomfortable but not really painful.

Is this part of the normal healing process or something I should be concerned about? Will is soften up as it heals? I don't remember feeling this when I had previous episiotomies. I'm afraid it's going to make sex very uncomfortable.

If any of you have experienced this, I'd love to know what you did to ease the discomfort. I'd greatly appreciate the input.

Thanks so much. June

I'm 6 week out of some of the same stuff that you had. At 5 weeks, I have the same knot that you talked about. It made it difficult to walk and sit for a long period of time. Now at 6 weeks it's almost gone. I can still feel it but it has definietly softened. This is my experience and may not be the same for you. You can alway call your doctor to find out what they think. Good luck.

Thanks Greenlady,

I think I'll just try to relax until my 6 week check, and if it's still there, I'll ask the doctor.
