6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
Hello...
I will be six wks Friday, just was wondering how "normal" I was feeling compared to others. I am especially interested in the pain levels you are feeling.
I behaved very well the first 4 wks, and started picking up activity after passing that point.
I can bend over pretty well now, but can't hold a bent over position very long yet. I still get the sharp zinging pains every so often, along w/other sometimes strong aches, pinches, and pulls.
There are also some very tender hurting areas that now & then develop along my incision. I am not taking Motrin on a daily basis anymore though.
I have to start back to work full time Sunday...
I am nervous about that: it is a physical, standing, lifting job.
I expect that I will feel quite a bit of pain, but that would be normal, don't you think? I can deal w/the pain...I just do not want to hurt anything inside. Doctor had cleared me at 4 wks to go back to full activity...even lifting as much as 40 lbs. Yeah, right!
Also, anyone w/a bladder suspension done at time of hyst...how are you progressing?
Thank you, Ladies, for any input!

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
Hi--I will be six weeks on Monday. I was cleared at 4 weeks, too.
I have been well-behaved and taking care of myself. :-) I walk every day and haven't lifted anything heavy. I do get some "zingers" occasionally, especially to the right of my vertical incision. The doctor says that is normal--nerves healing where the stitches are anchored.
I did have a small amount of gold discharge--I seem to see a lot of posts about that being related to internal stitches dissolving. I hope that is normal.
The last few days I have felt exhausted--even though I haven't done much of anything. I just sleep and sleep. I am returning to work part-time on Monday, so I hope this lets up a bit. I am an 8th grade teacher. Love those middle schoolers!
Overall, I have a wonderful feeling of well-being. I am so glad I had this surgery done. The doctor found that my ovaries and part of my uterus were "cemented" to bowel, and I just feel great and normal now that is all gone.
I hope everyone else is feeling well.

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
It will be 8 weeks for me next Monday. I remember going back to work and feeling very tired and dragging myself home. But I figure I'm getting better every week.
I still have bouts of tiredness but it's getting better. And occasionally I have an URK! when I pick up something I shouldn't have or bend over.
My body is still healing but I'm doing ok.

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
I am 7 weeks today. I can tell a big difference in this week and last week. I have a lot more energy and can tell things are healing. I have read in some posts that 8 weeks is a really turning point. I think that is true.
I am really tired by the end of the day. I've rarely had to take anything for pain in the last couple of weeks. I have not picked up anything heavy and don't plan on picking up anything for quite a while. I definitley don't ever want to have prolapses again. I can bend at the waist, but can't hold it for very long.
Remember it takes 6 months to a year to heal inside. I am going to do what I have to do, but I don't plan on pushing it. I am going to careful this next year and heal properly.

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
Hi ALL, i too will be 8 weeks out this weekend, and will return to a lifting and standing job, however i will start part time. I feel really good, i dont have urks...... i have been going to the gym for three weeks now so i think i have my stamina back. We'll see what happeneds when i actually go to work. I am sure I will feel differently. Walking seems to have been the key for me. I have also been migraine free so far ( keeping my fingers crossed). Sometimes i actually forget that i had surgery reciently. As does my family, sad to see such a good thing come to an end and we have to get on with "real" life again. Hang in there ladies....... oh the things us women have to go through....

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
I'm at 6 weeks and doing okay. I just started back at the gym and feel like I'm starting all over again building up strength and endurance. I am not pushing it too hard because I'm scared to undo anything inside. I mowed yesterday for four hours, some of it real bumpy, and got along better than I expected.
I am so thankful for all the honesty on this site, because I realize that I'm not alone. At times I feel as though I baby myself too much, then I read what can happen...I only want to heal once!

6 wker's or so: could we compare notes?
I'm at 6 weeks and 2 days today. I behaved myself for the whole six weeks, and am still behaving, so I get the healing right the first time.
I returned to work (desk job) two days ago, working half days this week to ease back into things. I cannot believe how drained I feel after just 4 hours on the job, especially with a desk job! My theory is that I'm not used to using so many brain cells, and that's wearing me out.
Monday I took a 3 hour nap, yesterday a 90 minute nap, but today so far I haven't felt like napping, so I guess that's improving. On Friday I'll decide whether to work full days next week or do another week of half days. One good thing about returning to work is everyone keeps telling me I look great now, and I think that's because I've lost 21 lbs. since the last time they saw me six weeks ago!
I rarely have pain now; occasionally need a Tylenol; can bend over just long enough to tie my shoes; the "zingers" seem to be gone; I am still very protective of my tummy and don't want anything to bump into it, however. It's still tender.
Now, if I could just get my energy back things would be terrific. I'll just have to be patient and build up stamina slowly. Hope everyone continues to do well.
Barbara
