Called...getting Copy Of Surgery Report

Thanks girls

I just read a few posts about getting a copy of my surgery report. I DID get a copy of the pathology report from the dr but I thought that was all there was.

I called the hospital and they are going to send me a copy of the surgery report. It oughta prove to be interesting reading. I'll let you know what its about.

Hi Pat,
There are a couple of sites to refer to when you get your report. It's written in Greek!! It's all very interesting. I received everything from check in to discharge papers, all testing, surgery and path. You really appreciate your aches after reading it.

Hi Pat,
Just got home from GYN. More granulation and another treatment!!!
Yes, I had to pay around $11.00. I had 16 pages and it was worth every penny!

Maralyn,

At my final appointment with my surgeon, I got a copy of my path report and also of my discharge summary, but the summary was just "bare bones" stuff and did not cover the actual op.

Did you have to call the Medical Records Dept. at the hospital to request the "whole nine yards" so to speak?

I'd be very interested to see all of my records too, just not sure which dept. or office to contact.

Any guidance appreciated; thanks!

I went to the medical records department and picked up my surgery and pathology report this afternoon. I paid a dollar a page. I found out that a lot more of my organs were involved with adhesions tha I know. I going to send the patholgy report to my cousin who is a pathologist. I did find out I also had a benign on 1 of my ovaries that I never knew about. Doctors don't tell you everything.

I got my 4 week check up today and went down to the Medical Records Dept. and paid $6.00 for my path report and surgical report.

I was reading the surgical report and smiling as if I was reading a good novel! I was also picturing just about everything that was written!

Does anyone have that website that was mentioned on above post regarding the lingo? There are a lot of words that I hadn't heard of at all!!!

Thanks

- Kim

PS. Not cleared for real sex until two more weeks! Oh well, had the big O a week ago anyway!!!

i've just writtent to the hospital where my surgery was done, I haven't seen one report of what was done for my 2 stays in hospital, my gyn did send me a copy of a letter he wrote to the consultant who had initially referred me to him, and that was it.
I was given a sealed envelope to hand to my gp upon discharge from hospital, which of course I had to open and check out, neither said very much, but I think we need to know exactly what happened to us and see the reports.

Hi Barbara,

Lost track of this thread! Yes, like the other posted, I just called the medical records department. I got the same reports that are sent to the doctors...no bare bones. Very interesting reading.

I would like the web site mentioned above also. I received my records and they are about 2 inches thick of paper after paper...LOL! Just curious what all this mumbo jumbo means!
