Dress or sweat pants leaving hosp. TVH?????

I'm having a TVH on the 27th. Yikes! Just around the corner. I had planned on wearing sweats or leggings home but..... I've read posts about soreness (and I ain't just talkin swelly belly) if you get my meaning . With all of the stuffing that's put in after a TVH I thought I had better go ahead and ask a dumb question. So, any advice would be helpful and appreciated.

P.S. I did buy the big granny undies .

bring a dress

I HAD MY HYST. ON 1-22-01 AND IF I KNEW WHAT I KNOW NOW I WOULD HAVE BROUGHT A DRESS AND SLIP ON SHOES.

THIS WAY YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BENT DOWN TO DRESS, JUST PUTTING ON PANTIES WAS A CHORE AT FIRST LET ALONE THE SWEET PANTS. MAKE SURE THE DRESS IS LOOSE OR STREACHY. SO IT WILL BEND AND MOVE WITH YOU BEST OF LUCK.

I wore sweat-type pants (loose, drawstring) and was just fine. Good Luck on the 27th!

Dress or sweat pants leaving hosp. TVH?????

I wore home what I wore to the hospital. Loose, baggy drawstring pants and a big sweatshirt. You really don't care at that point what you look like (or at least I didn't. I just wanted to get home. Had I to do it over again, I would also wear slip on shoes. DH had to help me put on underwear, socks and shoes. (Doesn't do much for the old morale) I just couldn't bend over at all. After a few days I figured out ways to do it all myself.

I also wore home what I arrived in....a jumper type dress. I was extremely comfortable. Plus, I wore my slippers...the drive home was extremely comfy!

P.S. Remember to have a pillow with you for you tummy, and ask the person who will be driving you home to warm up the car. All of this adds to your comfort level on the trip home!

Good luck to you! The waiting is the worst part......

me too!

I had a TVH on 1/30, and I wore the same thing to and from the hospital. Baggy sweats, and a really baggy sweatshirt. Hubby had to put on my socks and shoes for me though, but I was able to do everything else.

Good luck to you!

big t-shirt nightie (like the hystersister nightie)

I wore a t-shirt nightie and baggy boxer shorts, cuz I didn't even want undies touching my incision. So a loose, comfy dress sounds comfortable.
I didn't care who saw me being wheeled outta the castle in my Micky Mouse t-shirt nightie, I deserved to be comfortable Wish I had found this website b4 cuz I woulda been wearing the Hytstersister nightshirt...that would be appropriate

Best Wishes!
God Bless.

Dress or sweat pants leaving hosp. TVH?????

I had a TAH/BSO on 2/7/01 and I wore my jammies, slippers and robe home from the hospital!! It was great. I knew I was going to change into them as soon as I got home so what the heck!!! I'm sure I was a site, a 40 year old red head wearing bright blue flannel pj's with big yellow smiley face starts with matching blue and smiley face slippers!!! Believe it or not, we had to stop by the drug store and I went in that way!! I really didn't care (guess the morphine, etc. was still being really good to me :-) ). Anyway, what I'm saying is just be comfortable. Worry about fashion another day!!

Best of luck.

Regards,

LeAnn

Dress or sweat pants leaving hosp. TVH?????

Hi there,
I had TVH Jan 30. I wore home same clothes that I had worn when admitted.(loose sweatpants & loose button front top). Hubby helped me with my socks, boots and winter jacket.
I was glad to have a reclining seat in the car (ride home was 1&1/2 hours). I also made sure I took pain meds before I left hosp. Hubby was very sweet, he warmed car, brought a pillow and a bottle of water for me.

Dress for me

Hi,

I wore the same outfit home as I wore to the hospital too - a t-shirt dress and long sweater. I took off my undies when I got home and haven't worn them since!
