My good news about HRT...
Hey gals
I think I may have found an HRT that is finally working for me. I have started the 'estrogel' which was introduced here in Canada awhile ago. I was taking Premarin, then I switched to the Estrace, with bad results.
My hair started falling out again, weight gain in the mid section, terrible insomnia, body twitches, major bone aches in feet, hands, arms, and legs. I thought I was going through this all over again. I tried the estrace for 6months, and had to keep upping the dose. I was up to almost 5mg daily, with only a break in the insomnia, however I felt so fatiqued all day.
Within a few days of using the gel, I started to feel less tired during the day, and now my hair has gradually stopped falling out. YIPEE! I thought I would have to cut off my locks for sure!
I've also started taking testosterone, in a capsule like form, 40mg once a day. I was tested low, therefore my doctor finally agreed to prescribe it for me. However, he had to look in his big book of drugs, for the dosages etc. It seems us women are not in this reference, reguarding testosterone. Only males where mentioned in delivering the dose to? Is the medical field still archaic when it comes to hormones for women???? YES!!!...apparently so!
I have only been on the testosterone for 1 month, and well, not only has my libido returned, but my anxiety has lessened too. I know of many women who swear by this hormone, and say it only gets better in months to come...Hopefully this is the cocktail I needed.
I'm thanking a higher power for my persistence. I guess my stubborness has finally paid off! Tired of doctors, making me feel as if this was nothing, and that the problem is in my head!
Thought I would share some good news about HRT, and giving some hope to those who can relate. My advise is to hang in there, and listen to your own body, no matter what some of these doctors say. Remember, they are only so called educated people with opinions, and sometimes lack the information it takes to care for their patients. Sometimes lack the personality too...but that's another story!

My good news about HRT...

Hi Urssy,
I have been on the gel for 3 months now - that's a record for me. I am finding it much better than anything else I've tried so far. It seems to be a more 'even ride' - without the highs and lows. The orals didn't agree with me and interfered with thyroid etc. making me very tired and one of them sent me loopy. So hopefully things will just get better and better. Sometimes it can take that 3 months on something to get a really clear picture but as long as things keep improving you're on a winner.

Thankyou....
I guess I was starting to feel so bad, that when alittle improvement is noticed, it is such a high! Just wanted to thank all you ladies for the encouragment and support on this board. It is nice to know people actually care enough to respond with such kind words. I wish only the best to all of you too, and hope this quest ends in a triumph for us all. Crossing my fingers that the gel doesn't stop working for me, like the others did.
