CT scan shows mass in left breast
It's just not fair. Just finished with radiation for recurrent endo ca. two months ago and now the CT scan shows a mass in the left breast. I knew that having had endo ca I was at a greater risk for breast cancer but this!!!!!!
Could this be a metastasis????
On a previous post I was debating whether to have another CT scan or not. I had been experiencing persistent pains in the left upper quadrant of my back. My concern, re the CT scan, was adding to the amount of radiation that I'd already had. After much good advice from the sisters here I decided to consult my external rad/onc. She gave me the go ahead. Last Thrusday I had the scan and since I know that with this new technology the Drs are able to view the scan immediately. Didn't hear from the Doc on Friday so I thought I was in the clear. Just to make sure I called his office the following Monday and his nurse gave me the news and made an appt for me tomorrow to come in an have a mamo. I know that CT scans can have false positives but ENOUGH ALREADY! I WANT MY LIFE BACK. I'll keep you posted Thanks for letting me rant. Could use your prayers. anna

Yes, you are right, it is just not fair!
Try to think only positive thoughts till the ultrasound results are back. I know it's hard to do. Positive thoughts and prayers are being sent to you. Take a deep breath, you'll make it thru this.

CT scan shows mass in left breast
Dear Anna,
Dang it! I am so sorry. And yes, I do remember your previous post and your diagnosis of 1a and then having a recurrence. I can certainly understand your fear and frustration. Please know that you are in my thoughts and I want you to keep us informed about this. I will think the most positive thoughts and send them directly your way.
I did not realize that CT scans were done on the breast area. Would that be a full body scan? I have had two done, but they only went up to the abdominal area. Next time, if I have to have one done (I have cysts/calcificatons/dense breasts) I will request it.
Was everything else ok? So, basically you had a clear CT scan except for this mass. I hope that this will turn out to be nothing. You have been through so much lately.
And, feel free to 'rant' away girl.....please vent whenever you need too. Most of us understand, on a very deep level, how scary this all is.
A warm hug,
Diane

CT scan shows mass in left breast
Oh Anna,
I went through similar 3 months post op. I had my routine mammo at that time and got "the call" that a suspicious area was found on my left breast requiring me to go for an ultrasound, then 3 more mammos over the next 6 months. The end result was dense tissue of benign etiology. During this same time frame, my internist found a nodule on my thyroid which required a biopsy, and that too was found benign. So I certainly can relate to that enough is enough feeling!!!
Just wanted to share this to let you know that many of these lumps, bumps, spots, etc. that seem to surface or are discovered at a time when we least need to deal with another health crisis are more often than not benign.
Take Care and I will keep you in my prayers.

CT scan shows mass in left breast
Anna,
After finishing treatment for cancer, they watch you very closely and things that would not be deemed of major significance in someone without our endometrial cancer (EC) history are looked at with an elevated degree of suspicion.
Case in point; I had to have two breast biopsies (one needle and one Mammotome biopsy) in the first couple of years after finishing EC treatment. I remained in a "high surveillance" category until about a year or so ago, requiring ultrasounds each time I got a mammogram. Now I'm finally back on the normal one-year screening mammogram track.
Please hang in there Anna, I've been through it and I know it's not easy, but just try to put one foot in front of the other and get through the testing. If they see something on the mammogram, they'll next likely do an ultrasound. If they see something on the ultrasound, the'll likely do a biopsy. In the majority of cases, the biopsies, if necessary, turn out to be negative.
They just have to check everything out to be sure that all is well. Being in this high scrutiny category for a couple of years is no fun, but it's one of the facts of life of being a cancer survivor.
It is reassuring to know that the intense level of surveillance is designed to protect your best interests and will lessen over time.
Take care,
MoeKay

CT scan shows mass in left breast
I agree with every one. Take it easy - one step/day at a time. I know that it is easier said than done, but at least try. I know that when I had my recurrence and loosing my bladder, I thought that life was so unfair. I will keep you in my thoughts and pray that the mass is benign.
God Bless

CT scan shows mass in left breast
Had a mamo today and radiologist told me "mass" was scar tissue from the lumpectomy for the removal of micro-calcifications I had 5 years ago. (Subsequent mamos never showed this scar tissue. Nor had two previous CT scans) I actually told her I didn't believe her because I had been told that all my cancer had been removed with the hysterectomy only to have it recur 5 months later. Told her I wouldn't be satisfied unless I had a follow-up ultrasound just to make sure. I'm sure she thought I was a little nutty but agreed to it. I have an appt. next week. Only those who have gone through the cancer ordeal could understand the need for such a reassurance.
Thank you all again for your advice, support and prayers when I was in panic mode. Couldn't have made it this far without this site! anna
