Testosterone Patch

I haven't written in a very long time but thought this was worth sharing with everyone. I had my LAVH in Oct'00; and, as most of us, lost my desire for sexual relations. I'm still very young (54 now) and my hubby loves me very much (married 35 yrs) and is always in the mood. Over the years I've tried Estratest, Test. creams & gels, sublinguals etc. and could never get the dose right so gave up after a year or more.

Recently I thought to myself "why should I go through life like this" let's try again. So I pulled out all my old reference materials and began reading and surfing. Finally, I came across an article on Natural Bioidential Transdermal Testosterone Patch for women (not to be confused with the one the FDA is researching). WOW! I thought could this work. So I said why not! it's time.

Today I had my visit with my GYN and he agreed, WHY not and proceeded to call the Pharmacist and ordered the Patch for me. Boy was I in 7th heaven. He even requested info from the Pharmacy for his office to use for other women.

So I'm hoping and praying that this works. I feel confident it will with maybe a little adjustment or not. The Patch comes in different strengths so it can be adjusted and from what I understand you change it every other day.

Please understand I am a women, like many of you, who have suffered for many years and am just tired of it. I'll definitely keep everyone posted on how this is working and who knows maybe in a couple of weeks I'll be the one to initiate a romantic encounter with my hubby. Boy will he be surprised. He joked when I got back from the DR's "maybe I need to get some Viagra" to keep up with you. Woulden't that be nice.

Take care everyone and Bless you.

Testosterone Patch

Audrey,
Definitely let us know how it works for you. I've about given up on regaining my libido. I've tried both oral and test. cream and even on the high dose of 5% and it hasn't helped. I have gotten desperate and now have an appt. with a doctor who is doing a saliva test. Don't know if this will be the answer for me, but this is my last hope. I hope this will be the answer you are looking for and PLEASE let me know if it works for you as I might suggest that to my new doctor.

Testosterone Patch

Hi Audrey

I've done a lot of research re: my own hormone replacement and use compounded testosterone cream. I have not heard of a natural bioidentical testosterone patch. I am very curious about this. How is it labeled?---is it from a pharmaceutical company?

Testosterone Patch

What's the name of the patch that you are using? It's my understanding that there is not a bio identical testosterone patch available for women. Here's an article about a patch that was in clinical trials, but the FDA declined to approve it: FDA Hearing for Intrinsa

I am aware of a bio identical testosterone that is available thru a compounding pharmacy. You can get it in various forms of delivery, such as oral, cream, drops or gel. However, I haven't heard of it being available via a patch.

Anyways, I am very curious to hear more about what you are using. The more info we have the better!

Testosterone Patch

Women’s Health America, Madison Pharmacy Associates can hand-compound a customized transdermal testosterone patch made just for you—and we can do it TODAY! All it takes is a prescription from your health care provider.

http://www.womenshealth.com/index.htm

This is a Compounding Pharmacy.

You can read about the Patch on their site and request information. I printed out this info and took it to my DR. Thank goodness he was open and very responsive and didn't hesitate to call and talk to the Pharm. with me in the office and immediately ordered the Patch.

My thinking is that the patch will be better absorbed - similar to the estrogen patch. As I understand it, it's placed on fatty parts of the body and changed every other day. My Dr's starting me out on the lowest dose possible 1mg for 1 month and if needed we can increase. I hope to have the patch by Friday.

Hope this helps and I'll definitely keep everyone informed.

Testosterone Patch

I guess I don't understand what would be the advantage of a compounded patch over the compounded creams? The patch can't be applied to the labia and clitoris, can it? What type of adhesive do they use?

Goodness, I think I will stick with my compounded testosterone cream for now

s,
-Linda
