complex cyst

Hi ladies,

I had ovarian cancer in April 2004. Right ovary and tube were removed. They couldn't finish the TAH because I almost died on the operating table. Now through cat scan and transvaginal ultrasound the doctor found what he says is most likely a complex cyst. My ca125 is 15. He has decided to retake the tests in 4 weeks to see if it grew, etc. Has anyone had a similar situation. He is trying not to operate because they aren't sure why I got so sick the first time. Test showed everything was okay, so they have no cause. What if this cyst/tumor? is cancerous. Any words of wisdom would help. Four weeks is a long time to wait. Thanks ladies.

I'm really sorry to hear you are having to go thru all of this again. Did they not remove the left tube and ovary during your TAH because of the complications or was it by choice?

I think you are in a unique situation, because most ovca ladies I talk to have had both ovaries removed at the time of diagnosis.

Your CA125 is good. Was the CA125 a good indicator for you the first time? Let's think positive thoughts that this "thing" is just a benign cyst and nothing more.

What an ordeal! What kind of ovarian cancer did you have? Most women have epithelial cancer which is followed up with chemotherapy, but there are some subtypes of ovarian cancer which do not require chemo and for which even just removal of the ovary is a "cure"

Is your CA-125 up from after your surgery last year?

Thank you for replying to my post. I had a granulosa cell sexcord tumor and couldn't finish hyst. due to bad reaction on table. My ca125 has been stable.

I think that if your ca125 is stable, and has been. You need to focus on that aspect while doing the "waiting game".

Waiting for results, test etc is soooo stressful. That is why I say... hang on to the facts, what you know!.. and that is.. your ca125 has been stable. That is wonderful!

Best to you...
