Any women in their 20's??

Hi all,

I've posted on here before about making my own decisions about a hyst. I actually get to see my dr. next Thurs. to discuss what he wants to do. Anyway, as I'm 25 I was wondering if any of you out there had your hyst in your 20's?? I know that it's a lot harder to get a hyst at a young age, so if any of you are out there, what were your problems that convinced your dr. that this was the best option.

I'm just so tired of waiting!! I went to my first dr. appointment for this almost a month ago, and it's been a month of seeing a specialist (GI to rule out that my stomach wasn't causing my problem-- which I've told them that it isn't) and several tests, u/s, etc.

I've had cysts for 9 years now (everytime they take them out they come back worse) and it seems like they would believe me by now that I know what cyst pain feels like. Haven't been officially diagnosed with endo as of yet (my previous dr. said she thought she saw isome in there during another surgery) I mean seems like she would know what she was looking at.

Sorry this has gotten too long, started out asking a simple quest. and it's turned into a full blown rant and rave. Just tired of telling the dr. what's wrong with me and them not believing I have the mental capabilities to figure it out.

By the way, my u/s showed 20 cysts on my 1/2 of ovary remaining, lots of free fluid, tech told me that cysts were growing so fast and so many that one grows in pushing another out of the way and popping it, so if any of you have had cysts rupture, you may know what kind of pain I'm talking about. So, I have possible endo, probably about 2-3 cysts popping every 2 weeks (according to tech) and the GI spec diagnosed me with IBS. So, needless to say I'm hurting and I wish they would do something. When I went in the day of my u/s they actually told me that a hyst would be one of my options, but you never know, they may take that back. Like dangling a carrot.....

Any women in their 20's??

Hey there. I've just turned 28 & my hyst is scheduled for May 31st. I'm blessed with an awesome gyno. I have a 2 yr old girl & 4 yr old boy, my husband's had a vasectomy, so we KNOW we're done. That was the main question gyno had for me.

After each pregnancy, my periods got worse. Gyno believes it's endo. I've been diagnosed w/PCOD, so I know the pain you're talkin about. The main reason for my hyst is excess estrogen. A few years ago, I was diagnosed w/bipolar depression. I began keeping a pain diary & noticed my moods were very low during ovulation & just before menstruation. Painful, frequent, heavy periods, bipolar symptoms, PSOD all are caused by excess estrogen. I tried many hormonal b.c. pills & they all made my moods worse, even the mini-pill.

SO, after months of various b.c. pills and visits to the psychiatrist, which prescribed 8 different depression/bipolar meds, a hyst is really the only sensible option. I've been on Lupron(chemical menopause) since February and I'm doin great! The only pain I've had since then is a little from the cysts bursting.

The other main concern of my gyno for me is sex. Because of the almost constant pain & depressed moods, I'm actually more sexual than before & expect that after recovery from surgery we'll be back to the way we were before I got pregnant for the first time (looking forward to that!)

You can privately email me anytime. I hope this has helped. So far, the only real drawback of going through menopause so young is hot flashes. I feel like an idiot when someone sees how uncomfortable I am and when they ask I tell them I'm flashing. I have to explain why I'm having hot flashes @28. lol I've not found a way around that one yet. But if that's the worse of the drawbacks, it's soooo worth it. I'm now of all meds (except allergy) and feeling grrrreat!

Good luck and God bless,
Amanda

Any women in their 20's??

Hi. I am 26 and had a TAH/BSO ( among other things-see my signature lol) on 4/14/05. I had endometriosis for 10 years that would not respond to treatment, retroverted uterus, a rectocele, adhesions, well lets just say I had alot of problems! lol All the docs I had seen agreed that a hyst was my only option left and my hubby and I didn't want anymore children, so I said out with it! I am 5 weeks post op now and even though I have had a few setbacks, overall I feel much better. I can't wait to get my energy back and get on with my new pain free life. I would think that if you have that many cysts, possible endo, and pain that no doc would need to be "convinced "so to speak. The evidence of needing a hyst is right there on u/s, etc. As long as you want a hyst the doc should have no problem doing it.My advice it to make absolutly sure that this is what you want( and I am sure you have weighed this out) My quality of life has improved so much in the short weeks since surgery. The way I see it is that surgery pain is much better than constant pain from something wrong down there. Not that any pain is good, but you know what I mean. I opted to start Hrt and I am on Premarin and Estratest Ds daily, so I don't really have any menopause symptoms(thank the good lord). Best wishes to you. If you would like to talk, feel free to PM me.

27 years old

Hello I am 27 years old and six weeks post-op. I just had my six week app. today. EVERYTHING IS GREAT!!!! yipee. I had a choice in havibg a hysto when I just had severe endo even though it was messing up the quality of my life, but as soon as the dr told me you have pre-cancer in cervix and it did not seem to be slowing down there really was no choice after that. Thankfully I have a 5 and 3 year old and was not planning on any more so that was not an issue. I am now feeling great.
