Hospital letter!!!!!

Today i recived a letter from hospital.for some unknown reason it really panicked me .i knew it wasn't my post op appt cause thats already sorted.by the time i finally opened it i was really nervous,Unknown to me my uterus was sent away for biopsy's etc (why wasn't i told????)Luckily it was fine they had only found a fibroid and it was otherwise ok.Thing is though i had loads of tests and scans before TAH and nothing was found to explain the excessive bleeding Grrrrrr! I'm so glad that i decided to go ahead with the op and not just keep taking hormones otherwise who knows how big that fibroid would have become.!!!!!!!!

Hospital letter!!!!!

Hmm.. this is another of those differences between British medicine and American medicine I guess. As a former hospital transriptionist, I basically expected that there would be lab tests of anything removed from me to document the reasons for the operation, and to be sure there was no need for further treatment.

Not all fibroids show on ultrasound - my pre-op pictures show 5, I actually had 11 according to the pathology report - lab tests to examine the tissue closely.

So, if they saw a fibroid when they removed your uterus, I would say be glad that they confirmed that it was "only" a fibroid and not something else. And, the fibroid could have been the cause of your heavy bleeding if it was in just the right position.

From my understanding, it would be a very fortunate thing that you did the surgery and stopped the hormones - hormones might have made it grow faster or bring friends to the party, right?

I'm glad that you got over your panic enough to open the letter and see that it didn't contain any tragic news.

Hospital letter

Hola
On many occasions I thought I would bleed to death also. Couldn't get out of the villa for weeks some times because of the severity of the flooding/clotting etc. I was wearing 3 bed time sani pads some times and had to change every 20mins. It was an absolute nightmare. Had a big black bag on the bathroom floor to stuff everything into yuk !!!!
I'm so pleased that will NEVER EVER EVER EVER happen again, and like a lot of you "Girls" out there have to smile when I walk down "The Ladies Isle" in the supermarkets.
I look forward to healthier times from now, and especially looking forward to going in my pool.
Bye for now
