My Mom's Uterine Cancer is back

My Mom's cancer is back. This time the doctors say that it is hopeless, just buying time, nothing they can do.

I am reaching out to those of you that might know something that we don't, anything that might help or spark some hope.

My Mom was diagnosed with stage 3c edometrial cancer 1.5 yrs ago. She underwent radiation and then chemo. She has had also had some bone fractures due to the treatments, and even a hip replacement in the past couple of months. We thought things were looking up.

My Mom went in for her check up and found that there were cancerous cells on her pap smear report. There is a small tumor in her vagina, and 2 swollen lymphs elsewhere in her body that are not easy to operate on, so the doctors are just keeping a close eye on them. The doctors have said there is no hope and that she has 6 mos to a yr if she does nothing, and if she is able to have any more conventional treatments it is just "buying time", and she should think about what quality of life she wants to lead.

This is just heartbreaking to my family, we are of strong faith and understand the purpose of suffering, but at the same time we can't give up hope that something might be out there that could help prolong her life, if not cure the cancer????

Any prayers, thoughts or ideas are appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Maybel

Find a New Doctor

Are you near a Clinical Cancer Center or Comprehensive Cancer Center or could you easily get to one? They would have trials and the latest treatments for your mom. I would recommend getting a new doctor for mom. She doesn't need a Dr. Death--none of us do! You can be realistic without doom and gloom.

There is an herb called Graviola

that I've had good luck with. My situation is a lot different though. I was diagnosed with early endometrial cancer three years ago. Didn't want a hyst so I took the Megace. It worked but the cancer came back several months after quitting the Megace. I started back on the Megace but hated the side effects so quit after one month. Next biopsy showed hyperplasia with NO atypia but I knew if I didn't do something the cancer would be back again. I was in the health food store soon after talking to the owner about my situation and she suggested the Graviola. It was only $16 for 100 so I thought what can I lose (maybe the cancer?) and bought a bottle. Just had my last biopsy and the cancer and hyperplasia is gone and now completely normal. Your mother of course has a late stage cancer where I did not but you never know. I was estatic with my results as you can imagine. There is a lot of info on the internet if you do a search. Good luck to your mother. My father died of lung cancer 9 years ago and I keep thinking "I wish I knew then what I know now and maybe he'd still be alive". It's so devastating to lose a loved one to cancer. Please email me if you have any questions.

My Mom's Uterine Cancer is back

Maybel,

I am so sorry to hear of the current situation with your Mom
Margaret is right..Nobody needs Dr. Gloom
I think maybe a new Dr may be in order who will have other options to offer.

I will keep you both in my thoughts.

All my blessings
Tricia

Hi LauraLee

I heard about graviola before. Did you take this along with the Megace or just after when you stopped the megace?

Any weird side effects from the graviola?
I was diagnosed Endometrial Cancer Stage1...2 months Megace biopsy showed Atypia Hyperplasia. Next Biopsy June 10th. I am doing this in hopes of having a child before needing to have all removed.

Please do tell me more about the Graviola. I read about this but never saw it through to go get some. ( I am afraid of taking anything, even asprin) so Can U imagine me on the Megace!!

My Mom's Uterine Cancer is back

Dear Maybel,

While visiting my docor today I had many questions on recurrent EC. I was told that a local recurrence in the vagainal area is treatable possibly by laser treatment or cutting a small piece out and even a more detailed dose of radiation targeting the area. As far as the 2 enlarged lymph nodes I would think that another dose of Chemo might knock this out.

Recurrent EC is treatable from what I hear.

My Mom's Uterine Cancer is back

Thank you all for your ideas and support. Your words and hope are so comforting!

My Mom went back to the doctor today. He said that they could do surgery to remove the tumor, but that he felt that the lymph nodes were spreading the cancer and that it really would be "superficial" is what he said. Such a horrible thing to say. At any rate, then he said if it was his wife he would recommend hormone therapy and the surgery. My Mom has to make up her mind by Wed. She wasn't sure what "receptors" she has, but apprently all hormones won't work with the receptors that she has. She was going to check on that tomorrow. I told her to ask, so that I could search more and seek more ideas and options. In addition to that she is going to do some nutritional therapy that I read about, she is going to see a doctor for that.

I am trying to convince her to travel to see a different doctor, for another opinion. The only hope right now from here is that this hormone therapy will slow down the cancer, and possibly buy her 6 mos. says the doctor. I believe the hormone is called Tamoxifen & there is another one too that she will be taking as well, the name escapes me right now.

Thank you again for your support. I welcome all thoughts, prayers, ideas, suggestions. Thank you.
