Energy

3 weeks ago I had two cysts, fallopian tubes and ovaries removed (had my uterus removed vaginally in 1971) and I have no energy. I thought I would feel better by now. I take my shower daily and I try to do a small daily outing. Is this normal or how long will it take to feel myself again? Also, it is still very painful when I need to have a bowel movement and my incision is still very sore (have lots of scar tissue in incision). Does anyone have these problems?

Hi Dandy; I am 4 and a half weeks post op and I went back to work part time today for the first time since the day before surgery. I AM WORN OUT!!! I tried to do little outings and some minor housework over the last 4 weeks at home, and little by little I could feel my energy level returning, VERY slowly. But now I'm wondering if I've gone back to work too soon because I am absolutely dead this afternoon and all I did was go sit at my desk and work through emails.

I guess everyone is right - recovery from this procedure takes as long as it takes, and 6 weeks is what most of us can expect. Hopefully you will start feeling your energy level increase and your pain and discomfort decrease - soon!

Exactly....recovery takes as long as it takes! I didn't return to work for 7 1/2 wks. I am going into my 12th wk post op and I am still very tender at my incision area. If I do too much, I become verrrry sore and achey. I get tired alot faster than before surgery and some days I have absolutely no energy (especially if I have pushed myself too hard). If that happens, I eliminate something from my daily routine and rest a little more. That helps alot. So, take it one day at a time and listen to your body. Take good care of yourselves!
