After over a year , i will be having my last ovary removed soon ..
I developed a cyst after my second Lupron shot and my endo pain is even worse ..i am nauseated and bloated to the hilt
this i am told was not supposed to happen ..So i am going to go ahead and get it out
I am worried about my muscle tone ..I strength train with free weights and walk 3-4 times a week ..
how bad does it get ? the muscle loss ..I am so active ..i hate
going thru all this ..i will be 44 years old ...i feel like it isnt going to ever end

I am by no means an expert on this, but I didn't start strength training until after my LAVH/BSO & diagnosis of osteopenia. 6 months of no HRT didn't help, either! But I have noticed that I am much stronger than when I started, and have moved up several weights. This is just my experience.
Well i can honestly say that when i started this p.meno. My muscle tone and mass went fast. It's not muscle anymore, It's all saggy skin. And i hate it . But i did go for quite awhile with no hormone replacement to. So i don't think that helped either.

I never used to worry about strength training... but I did notice I'd gained weight and loss muscle mass during the first two years after my hyst (I had a couple of more surgeries and between all the recoveries, I wasn't able to exercise other than walking).
I'm on HRT which includes both estrogen and compounded testosterone. Last summer I started working out at Curves. I do work fairly intensely there compared to most women I see... and I have to say I have really started building muscle, especially in my upper arms and shoulders, but actually everywhere.
I think with a combination of the right HRT and regular training (once you're past the recovery period and your DR has released you to train again), loss of muscle mass should not have to be an issue.
I feel your pain....I noticed a loss of muscle tone too after surgery. 7 months post-op, I added bio HRT. I believe that the testosterone cream helped to build/keep my muscle tone/mass longer than prior to my surgery!
I think that combining HRT, (mostly the testosterone, regarding this) along with light weight training, you will see results...You might investigate *LOW* dose DHEA too..

my doc seems fine with compounds now ...so i will get some testosterone as well ..
