My Story!
Hi all, I had fibroids and always new it. They didn't bother me so I decided not to have anything done about them. I was going to my doctor every six months for checks. November 2004 the fibroids started bothering me. I was always bloated and my clothes size had jumped tremendously. November 2004 I went in for a checkup. My doctor stated to me the fibroids had grown in size.
December 2004 I had surgery to remove the fibroids. Went back for my 2 week check-up and my doctor broke the news to me that the fibroids were found to be cancerous. Very unusual! Cancer type (Leiomyosarcoma)! I was referrred to a specialist. The specialist suggested a total hysterectomy. I was devastated not about the hyst., but the cancer. Thought about it for a couple of weeks.
January 21, 2005 had total hyst. There was no cancer found any where else. Recovery was fine no complications. May 2005 went back for my 4 month check-up. ( no mets. found.) Back to the 4 month check up. At the check up it was discovered that my vaginal cuff was tore. My doctor found it unusual at how it was torn. I thought maybe it was something I had done. I had no symptoms. Also the lymph node in my left groin area was swollen. May 23, 2005 had lymph removed and vaginal cuff repair.
Just trying to remain positive and cancer free!
