TAH 13th May - Will I Be Fit Enough In Dec 2005?

Hi,

I had a TAH on 13th May 05 and my recovery is going well so far. I live in the UK.

Unfortunately, because of this, I missed out on the chance to go and see Duran Duran in concert in Birmingham the other night!!

My best mate has just phoned me to say that they are doing another gig at Earls Court in London on 21st Dec this year and she asked if I'd be able to go. There'll be 3 of us girlies and we are planning on staying over in London for a couple of nights when we go to the concert. We want to get standing tickets so that we will be right at the front.

My question is, do you think I'll be fit enough to be able to go to the concert and also stand for what could be a few hours? It will be over 7 months since my op by then.

Do you think I will manage it or will it be too much even then?

Many thanks
Rowdy.

Go for it

I would think you should be OK by then. I felt pretty normal at 6 to 8 months.

I am sure if you get to that point and can't imagine doing it, someone will take your ticket off your hands for you

Hi

Without a doubt! I'm 7 weeks and could do it now, although would probably feel a bit tired afterwards!

Any problems, when the time comes, just pop them in the post to me. I'd hitch-hike up the M4 if I had to!

Have a great time!

Well i have to go back to work on June 9th, only 71/2 wks. after my TAH/LSO and i'll have to stand all day. My Dr thinks i'll be fine although the way i feel now i'm not so sure. The thought of it scares me worse than the surgery did. I think you should be fine that far after your surgery. I wouldn't miss my chance to go to the concert.

Plan to go

Hey Rowdy,

It may not feel like it right now -- you're very early in your recovery -- but I would expect you'd have absolutely no problems.

I'm now three months post-op and if I didn't see the scar, I wouldn't know I'd had surgery. I feel great and able to do anything I want.

At 10 weeks post-op, a friend and I completed a 20 km fitness challenge walk, which was (for us) four-and-a-half hours of steady walking up and and down hills. I was very sore from toes to hips that day and for the next two days but my abdominal area was just fine.

Standing at a concert for the same length of time would have been easy by comparison.

Sounds like a good time! Get the tickets and enjoy!

Keep well,

Rowdy--
My surgery was the same day as yours. Even thought I would hurt a lot and would need drugs afterwards, I think I'd try it tonight if it meant I could look at John Taylor for awhile!!! (haha)
Get your tickets!! You've got plenty of time!
Have a blast!

Thanks you guys, just what I needed to hear.

As most of you said, I probably don't feel that I will be able to at THIS moment in time but after all, it IS 7 months away!

My recovery has been pretty uneventful so far (thank goodness) and I hope it stays that way.

I went to see Duran Duran in Manchester last year as me and my best mate were Durannies when we were teens and never got the chance to go and see them live back then. So when we go to London it will be twice for and 3 times for her!! I really don't want to miss out again.

Rowdy.

Absolutely! I'm 12 weeks post-op, and I'm almost completely back to normal. The only thing remaining is numbness in my lower abs. Other than that, I do everything I was doing before the surgery, including working out at the gym (but I don't do crunches yet).

Get the tickets and have a wonderful time!
