Help.. I am having some oozing from incision site..

Help!

I am so nervous. My incision site has some oozing from it and I am scared. My dh thinks I am obsessing about it. :hair:
It is a slow ooze, it is not gushing.

You see, it started on Monday evening and it was only a small amount. The before bedtime it seemed a bit more.

Yesterday I went in for a walk-in at the gyn clinic to see a doc. Well, the doc said that it is normal to have some seepage from the incision. Since it is not red/swollen, not hot to touch and I have no fever I will be fine. Last night I had a little blood in the seepage and then it went away. But still have the seepage.

Then this morning I checked it out and now there is even more and I have another spot ot it. Ugh..

I do not know how much of it is considered normal. I am scared.

I am praying for some help here on this. I don't want to run to the hosp/clinic and bug the docs every day or every other day. I just at my wits end.

Kristi

Help.. I am having some oozing from incision site..

I think you are OK. I had a LAVH/RSO on 5/25. So my incisions are tiny, this time, but I did have a c-section 20 years ago and I remember all kinds of obsessive worries I had about the healing incision. A very small amount of bleeding and seepage can happen and can have to do with fluids that are part of the deep skin layers healing from the inside out. Watch it closely but try not to obsess and get an anxiety attack. If there is any swelling, heat or increasing blood, or serious discharge, then worry. A tiny bit here and there is normal.
I remember I had one spot that took longer to heal on me and it seemed to bulge too. It ended up healing totally flat and I have one of the best c section scars I've ever seen. It eventually became virtually invisible; that is until this LAVH gave me swelly belly that's causing a poochy, quilted effect that I assume/hope is temporary.
BTW, my DH says I'm obsessed about that too. He insists my stomache already looks better than it has in ages!

Help.. I am having some oozing from incision site..

I had oozing for several weeks after surgery. The doctor said it was normal. It was just very messy, i had to change gauze pads all the time.

Help.. I am having some oozing from incision site..

Kristi,
Some oozing is normal as well as a little bleeding. I had TAH on 4/21 and for about a week to 10 days I had a little bit of liquid and a few spots of blood. I asked my Dr about it since it started in the hospital before I was discharged and he told me that it was normal, as long as I didn't have a fever or the incision didn't get red or hot to the touch it was fine.
He told me that I could wash it daily in the shower with antibacterial soap, just make sure to rinse it off really really well and then pat it dry and let it air out some. Also, he told me to use a maxi pad or a pantiliner on top of the incision (I just stuck them to the inside of my panties) and changed it several times a day and he also suggested using ice packs on top of that to keep the swelling and pain down.
At 6 weeks my incision is healing wonderfully. The staples came out at 7 days and then the steri strips came off about 5 days later and it's healed really well since.
If you are obsessing over it then go get it checked one more time just to make sure that it's ok and then try to stop worrying about it and concentrate on healing.
It does get better - At 6 weeks it's hard for me to remember that I am still recovering from major surgery. I'm getting back into normal routines and other than some soreness and being tired I'm feeling better than I have in years.
I wish you the best.
Tammy
