Lower ABD pain/Dumping Syndrome

OK this one may be a little long so I apologize upfront.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced any of the following problems. I had a TAH on 5/5/05. I had a lot, a whole lot of adhesions, scar tissue and just basic garbage inside along with the fibroids and endometriosis. My doc said it was the worse case he had ever seen. He took my uterus and cervix left both ovaries and told me that he hopes he ever has to open me back up again. They even had a urologist come into the op room because he thought there was going to be leakage from my bladder. There wasn't - thank God. But post op I develope a complete illeus - air from my stomach through to my rectum. They think it was from the manipulation intra-op. I wound up not eating for days and have to be placed on TPN - liquid nutrition via IV central line. I was in the hospital for 9 days.

I am now having ongoing issues with my intestines. I looked up dumping syndrome and have every symptom of both early and late. Basically I have pain from my belly button down when anything is going through my intestines. When I urinate I can feel everything dropping and that is also painful. Not like UTI pain but stomach pain. If I eat sweets I get really sick (which is probably good considering how much couch time I am getting lately). I also getting sweaty, dizzy, etc when going to the bathroom.

I am calling my doc tomorrow. But wondering if anyone has felt anything similar?

Just Let me know.
Wishing you all happy healing.
Reggie

Reggie,

I am sorry you are having so much trouble post-op. It does sound like you had a lot of extensive work done with involvement of adhestions.

It may be that all this is going to take some time for you to heal and to function properly.

You may or may not have this syndrome. I am glad you are calling the dr. I hope they can figure out what is going on and provide you with the proper treatment.

I am sorry I cannot be more helpful. Maybe someone will come along with similar experience.

Let us know how you do. I will be thinking of you.
