2 weeks post, lump in arm from IV??

I have this sore lump on the top of my arm about 2 inches directly up from where my IV was inserted. Is this a possible blood clot? Is it something to worry about? Could it be where the IV stopped inside my vein and possibly caused a little bruise? Anyone else have this??

Sounds like you may ahve phlebitis. Its an inflamation of the vein caused by the IV. I had that after I had my DD and it lasted for several weeks. To be on the safe side I would call my DR and let him/her look at it. Hope this has helped.

I also had a lump....Call your Dr. to be sure.

I was told to put heat on it for about 20 minutes....then let it cool down and repeat. and just keep doing that.

I only did it about 3 times a day.It took about 4 days for the lump to go down.

I had a lump also. I am two weeks post op also. My doctor said it was scar tissue from the drugs that went through it. But, I would call your doctor to make sure.

I've got one! I'm was so pleased to see these posts. I've been wondering what on earth it was. I'm 8 weeks post-op and it's still the same, but I'm certainly not going to worry about it now!

I had this same thing froma hospitlaization back in November. The lump eventally got smaller and harder, and then went away after about 3 months. It was a bruise caused by the morphine wrecking havoc with my vein. It id hekp to put some heat on it, and massage it.

thanks guys. I will call my doctor, but for last night I took waldo's advice and put the heat on it. It is actually better today, so I am a little relieved. Thanks so much!!
