LSH experience

I'm going to be having a LSH next month and my right ovary will be removed at the same time. Could someone please tell me what to expect? How long will I be in the hospital or will I?

I had a LSH for large fibroids. I had my surgery at an outpatient facility. Surgery was at 7:30 AM and I went home at 6:00 PM. I had the option to spend the night if my Dr. had wanted me to.

After I left the outpatient facility, I went home and had a light dinner, took my meds and went to bed.

For the first two weeks, I just got lots of R & R. I was able to move around...just slowly. Stayed on the couch and watched t.v. I did an occassional errand if I felt up to it, with my mom driving.

I got a Dr's okay to go back to work at 2 weeks. Truthfully, I would have liked 3 weeks. I just delegated a lot at work and took my time on things.

I got a greenlight for all activities at 6 weeks. I think with us LSH ladies in post-op...we can look great on the outside and we are still healing on the inside. Just remember a LSH is MAJOR surgery and say "no" when you need to, so you do not overdo it.

I had my cervix cauterized during surgery and that has prevented me from having a mini-period. If you keep one or both ovaries, there can be a small percentage of a mini-period in post-op.

Best wishes. I am one year op and still ~very~ pleased with my surgery results. I have my quality of life back. No more fibroids, no more periods and no more b.c. I feel very lucky that my surgery was successful.
