7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

I just got back from the doctor, 7 wk check up. My recovery has been unremarkable, and I am doing well. I had LAVH BSO and bladder sling. Huge fibroids. My question is this. He lifted all restrictions especially I am talking about relations with my husband again. But when he touched the stitched up vagina way in there with a little swab. There was a little blood on the swab which he said was normal and everything looked good. He said there might be some spotting after sex for the next few weeks as I continue to heal. Is that ok?? Is that normal that there was a little blood on the swab? I have had no spotting or anything since a week after the surgery. Anybody?? Thanks in advance

7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

I had some spotting and some cramping with relations and a discharge. It turned out I had unhealed tissue that had to be treated 3x in dr office.

I would go slow and easy and see how you do. If it is bothersome, painful, and doesn't get better, please let dr know. You might need to be looked at and treated. Maybe dr feels it will heal on it's own and he wants to see how you do. Give it some time, you may heal without any help from dr.

7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

Hi gracielln:
My Doc gave me the ok at 4 weeks- I had had spotting off and on from a week after surgery up to that time. I had stopped for a day or two before my exam. My Doc said I was all healed up when he looked at me but then I started spotting again for a couple of days after.
I expect not having had anything up there for 4 weeks probably some little area started to bleed due to the probing, speculum etc. I did wait another week to have intercourse with DH just because I was still feeling tender in the abdomen. I did have a sheer blush color the first time but nothing since. Yeah!!!!

I would say that since your Doc has examined you and said everything looks okay you shouldn't worry- there may be a little residual stuff but that should be over soon. Just take it slow and listen to your body. As my Doc said: "a litte soreness is okay a lot of pain isn't." If you have more than what your Doc said to look out for then do call him and ask about it.

7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

thanks for the reply. The few times I have asked a question on here I don't seem to get many replies. I figure I must be asking stupid questions or I am the only one with the problem or something!!! I feel alot better since you replied. I also was in at 4 weeks and he touched it with the swab and there was a spot of blood and he said my stitches were still there but that the healing process looked good, even a little ahead of schedule. I guess as 7 weeks I just expected him to be able to touch it with the swab and not have any spot of blood on it. And I kept thinking afterwards that if that area is not quite healed why in the world would he allow me to have sex. But he has been an excellent and skilled doctor so far and everything he has said would be alright....has been alright!! He was very pleased with how everything looked. And after the exam that day there was a faint pink spot on my panties and that was it. I guess I am being a worry wort. I have not been in any pain at all from surgery since I came home from the hospital. Nor did I have discomfort from the exam.
Thank you so much for replying. I love this place.

7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

I myself am not "active" at this time, however my mother had the same surgery as me (lavh, ovaries remaining, cervix removed) and was graphic enough to inform me that even 10 years after her sugery there is the occasional spotting after intercourse if things are a little more rough than usual, she did go to the doctor about this and was told it is perfectly normal , I guess there isn't as much give post op, and that if it hurts take it easy, but otherwise there isn't concern that the man will bust his way through or anything. the things they do and don't tell you in school!

did it last night and it was great

Well we decided to try it last night and we were careful but still had an enjoyable time and there was no pain and just a blush of pink on the toilet paper after and that was it. What a relief!!! We were gentle of course but it was ok. Now if I can get on some hrt to let me sleep again with no night sweats!! I feel like a dish rag in the morning.

7 wk check-up!! released!!! Question?

Good for you! It was a little scary for me the first time too, but having it go well took away any nervousness for after, and it's been great ever since. Sure is nice having the ability to be intimate at any time without worrying about any visits from Aunt Flo!
