Anti-depressents?

Not sure if this is the proper spot for this post but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else! Just wondering how many ladies are on anti-depressents and if so what ones have not effected libido?

Anti-depressents?

I am on Lexapro, been on it about a month. I am 8 weeks post op today, I have only been released about 2 weeks for sex. I'm not sure about it affecting the libido because I havent had any desire for sex since surgery. It is getting better tho, I'm not sure if it is because we can. I am curious as to what other sisters have to say.

Anti-depressents?

I have been on Effexor in the past and it was the WORST for libido. I had none! I went on Wellbutrin and it improved greatly. In fact, I just quit the Wellbutrin about a week ago because I no longer need antidepressants and my libido has really gone down hill since I quit taking it.

I had heard Wellbutrin was one of the vest for the least side effects, that is strange that your libido would change after stopping them. thanx for the info! hey i'm moving to your state!!!!

lexapro

I have been on estratest and lexapro (20mg) since Feb. Would say that the libido has definitely changed...not for the better. The drive is there for the most part. My wheels are spinning but I'm not going anywhere so it has been frustrating.
Called the Dr and he added Wellbutrin XL 150mg to counteract the Lexapro side effects.

My concern is that I have always been very level and easy going. It was suggested that I go on an antidepressant for mood leveling since I was getting very edgy, irritable and just plain anti-social. Well, it seems that now I have MAJOR extremes...ok, not seems, it IS. My poor girlfriend thinks I'm psychotic and doesn't believe her when I told her that I'm not like this normally. Ah, the wonders of starting a new relationship and balance meds!

Has anyone out there experienced the same thing with the Lexapro? I don't know if I should just consult the Dr about stopping the lexapro or if perhaps just wait and see how the Wellbutrin does as an addition?

Anti-depressents?

Did your symptoms of edginess, etc start after surgery? Could be that all you were experiencing was menopausal symptoms? I was put on Effexor last year because of numerous joint aches and pains. I lived in a fog for six months with that stuff, then went on Wellbutrin which made me feel a little better, at least better than the effexor. Problem is that both of them completely zapped my energy and ambition. I am normally a high energy, very motivated person and I had no motivation whatsoever on antidepressants. I don't think I needed them in the first place because I wasn't really depressed. I have stopped taking ADs and I feel 100% better and my joint aches and pains are now gone. I think a lot of my problem was the endo and just constantly feeling bad because of it. If you are depressed, by all means you should be on something. Make sure you get all the facts and discuss it with your doctor. I'm just speaking from my own personal experience.
