Need opinions and help ASAP PLEASE!!

I dont know what to do, Im so stressed. Lets just say things are having to be worked out so I can have the surgery. Its like 50 bumps in the road and you can only make it over 48 and 4 more pop up. In other words 2 steps forward 4 steps back? LOL
I am stressed, and I have so gotta chill out before the surgery or they won't do it. Please help me. Any ideas or suggestions on how to relax?? I'm gonna call the dr tomorrow and see if they can give me somethin for stress to help til Thursday morning. Thank you in advance!! *hugs*

You've probably heard all of these suggestions before, but here goes anyway:

deep breathing (not hyperventilating -- long, deep breaths)
calming music
a bubble bath
watching the funniest movie you can find ("Tootsie" is still my favorite!)
taking a long walk
a trip to the gym
no caffeine
pray/meditate
write in a journal
drink herb tea

And, most importantly -- having the motivation to have one of those things work for you! In other words, if you just think you're way too stressed out but nothing will help, then nothing is sure to help!! (I can testify to this one as well )

Sure, you can call and ask for something for the anxiety, but just a couple of days' worth of meds probably won't do much at this point. Honestly -- I'd try the other methods. Also, don't try too hard to sleep. I always have found the more I try to sleep, the worse off I am! And you'll have plenty of time to sleep in the castle and when you get home.

Best wishes to you as you make final preparations. Hang in there, and soon you'll be on the road to recovery!!!

Sometimes a doc will give you a pill to help you relax (such as Xanax). Depends on your situation, overall health, etc. though. This really helped my DH when he had his wisdom teeth removed (he really freaks out over anything medical, and we had attempted to have them removed 3 other times before the doc finally gave him medication to take ahead of time to relax). Try listening to relaxing music while thinking of being away at your dream vacation. Sometimes this visualizing will help with relaxation. I am also having mine done on the 9th. Do you have someone to help you post-op? For me just getting all of my ducks in a row, as they say, has helped me stay calm and on top of it all. I will be praying that you find the peace and relaxation you need and that all goes well with your surgery!

Thank you all!
Thats part of my anxiety, the lack of support from my husbands mom. She was supposed to be coming to help then just backed out on us for no reason. Im hurt more than anything. I am doin ok I guess, stomach is in knots, but hubby is staying home tomorrow to help me with my boys (ages 3 and 4) and to just help me not think about it all.

I guess Im on the downside now so here we go? LOL :0)
*hugs* and again thank you!

I know people do not like to rely on drugs but if you are really stressed out it is not good for you. I must say I had a few Zanax the days before surgery! It helped my blood pressure and heart palpitations that is for sure. Just make sure you talk to anesthesiologist to find out when to stop taking it. I felt better after praying too.
