I have not been on any HRT since my surgery and recently have started to have a major loss of any sexual desire...at 24 this is a terrible thing to be going through!!!
I am planning on going to my doctor in the next couple days to talk mainly about testosterone replacement.
I am sure this topic has been posted a thousand times...but...
I was wondering if somebody could tell me the pros and cons (am I going to grow a mustache??? lol) of testosterone cream and how it is used. I know all of this can and will change from person to person.
So, if anybody could be of help I would appreciate it so much!!!
angelab, the doses used for women are low and "replacement" rather than supplementation that is seen with body builders, etc. When the ovaries are removed testosterone levels drop by about 40-50%. Doses for replacement are low and won't cause a mustasche unless that is normal for you!
There are choices in how you take it also. Most of the women who post here seem to be on the cream. I use the sublinqual troche.
I would suggest that you ask your doctor to test your testosterone and free testosterone levels before supplementing with it. Lack of libido can be from an overall hormonal imbalance and not just necessarily from a lack of testosterone only. If you're not using any hrt, than it's possible that your lack of libido is coming from an imbalance of estrogen and/or progesterone and/or testosterone. It may be better to pinpoint where your lacking, rather than just supplementing with what you think is the problem. Here's a good article on the topic: Sexual Desire/Sexual Response
That said, if your lack of desire is from a lack of testosterone, there is a bio identical compounded testosterone that is available. The dose can be tweaked according to your needs. As long as you don't get too much, I don't think you will grow a mustache.
