FSH Test/Hand Pain

Hello Ladies,

I've posted several times regarding pain in my hands since being on ERT. I saw a hand doctor today who confirmed that my discomfort was due to increased nerve compression caused from the mild fluid retention I'm getting from the Vivelle dot patch. So, finally an answer! I've also been taking magnesium. calcium, B12, and B6 for the past couple of weeks and the pain has eased quite a bit.

Now, a question. I saw an OBGYN for the first time last week. My GP has been dealing with my hormonal issues up until now. The OBGYN said he wanted to test my FSH level. His nursed called today to tell me that I'm post menopausal. Is that possible. I've only been peri since last summer. I asked her how my estrogen level looked since I've now been on ERT for 6 months. She said he didn't do an estrogen level test. I must be confused. I thought they could tell these by testing a gal's FSH level. Can someone explain this to me?

I also posted last week about the OBGYN doing biopsies on some external white patches he found in the perineum area. Those results aren't in yet. I wish they would hurry. I'm really worried about this as he said they could possibly be cancerous.

Thanks.

FHS Level, other tests results

Okay...here's what the doc said. My FSH test came back showing that I'm post menopausal. The doc said he doubts very seriously that I'm post menopausal at 45. He said that we need to get my estrogen levels up a bit. I just increased to the .1 Vivelle Dot. He wants me to try this until he sees me again in August and then he'll do another FSH test.

My biopsies showed that I have what he referred to as something another "hyperplasia". He said that it is a skin disease more than likely caused from dryness and atropy as a result of long time lack of estrogen. I have to stay away from perfumed detergents and toilet tissue, use mild soap for sensitive skin and a personal moisturizer daily. He said if it didn't clear up, he would give me steroid cream. Also, he told me that using my testosterone cream as prescribed would be very helpful. The biopsies showed no cancer cells but showed some atypical cells--whatever that means. He said we needed to keep a close watch on it. My pap was normal--that's one good thing. I'll be very glad when the areas he biopsied heal. It's been 10 days and one particular area is still very sore and swollen. I'm going to call him about that if it's not better by the first of next week.

FSH Test/Hand Pain

Well, I am glad you are not post menopausal yet and dr is helping getting your estrogen level where it should be. You should feel good once you are in balance.

Atypical cells are cells that show change, but not pre-cancerous and it doesn't mean they will go that way, but glad dr will keep a watch on them so quick action can be taken if need be. Yes, I have read that irritaion can cause cells to show up this way. That is great news your pap is good.

You should be feeling better once all the treatment and care is given to the affected area. It may take a little time for all this to heal.

Thanks for letting us know about you.
