5wks out - incision just FEELS weird- question

Hi everyone!

I have a question - am 5 weeks out from TAH (kept R ovary) - have bikini cut.

Everything has been going pretty well, still get tired (always surprises me and i feel little grouchy/ frustrated when i start feeling 'limited') but all in all ev. thing is fine.

The only thing thats really bothering me, and havent said anything to DH or doc cuz i THINK is normal, is incision (like THE incision itself) feels numb. And i thought well - duh - has been cut etc. But I still don't like to touch it, just feels weird. It's healing great - and looks SO much better than i was dreading - am pleasantly surprised about it in general. Except feels just numb.

Anyone else kinda feel this way???

thanks.

Don't worry, it's completely normal. I had my TAH on April1st and parts of my incision are still numb.

normal

I am just over 8 weeks post-op and even the arear around my insicion and very top of my thigh is still numb. I know what you mean about it feeling weird, sometimes my lower belly will itch and when I scratch it just is ,, well just there I guess cause even though the itching stops I can not feel what exactly I am doing.

Does that makes sense?

LAVH, BSO, fibroids, 4 mo. uterus, hemorrhaging, anemia

I had a c-section when I was 22 and it was numb for several months but the feeling came back. Then I had 2 more c-sections when I was 30 and 32 and there are still some spots that didn't get feeling back again. I wasn't surprised, since the same nerves were cut multiple times. With my LAVH, I am numb around my belly button and doc says feeling may come back, or not. It does feel really weird to scratch it when it itches cause you can't feel it. I know just what you mean!! But it's so nice to have all the bleeding stop and the pain of the swollen uterus.

I had tah kept both ovaries the same day you had yours. I have the same feeling not as bad as it was in the begining. I have a hard time with mine especially when soaping in the shower it bothers me to touch it. has this weird feeling about it . it was in the beginning from the belly button down. now it is half way down. I am feeling pretty good lately. I am getting anxous to go back to work . I was thinking of going back next week. But hubby thinks I should take one more week.,just to make sure everthing keeps going fine.

Thanks for everyone's replies! Thought was prob normal, or i was being bit psychotic about the "feeling" (emotional or physical haha). The itching and scratching numbness IS weird. And eventually i guess i won't mind touching it.

Blondey! wow! congrats!

I agree on one more week def.!!!! (tho am not always so good about listening to this advice for myself)

14 wks out, here...my incision is still numb and feels weird when I touch it. I have been told that sometimes that may not go away...everyone is different. Some say yes, some say that even after 9 yrs they still have that numb feeling in certain spots. Either way, I am so over it! I'm just happy to feel good! I am enjoying no pain and no more periods! Whooohooo!

Life is good! Take care, ladies!
