What do you use to remove the sticky from the surgical tape?

Hi,
I returned from the Castle this past Thursday. My SAH was last Monday morning. I still have the glue from the tape that covered my incision. I tried using nail polish remover to get it off and it didn't work much to my surprise. My dear friend told me to use mayonnaise or olive oil. My husband put some mayonnaise on it tonight and it was sensitive to his touch. The mayonnaise didn't work and I felt like a turkey sandwich.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can use to remove this glue residue?
Thanks.

What do you use to remove the sticky from the surgical tape?

In the hospital we actually use a product called adhesive remover. Unfortunately I cannot think of anything at home that will take it off. It iwll eventually slough off whith showers and skin sloughing..

Baby Oil works really well. Use with a cotton ball and it'll take all sticky goo off. Also works on those sticky price tags on glass/plastic.

Heal well!

There's a product called "Goo Gone" that will remove adhesive. I bought some at Wal-Mart. It's a petroleum-based product.

Good luck to you!

Hi Amy,

I've had great success over the years with double D eucalyptus oil. It will remove sticky residue and even chewing gum off carpets and out of kids hair. Has a wonderful smell.

Take care..........Karen

Baby Oil

Baby oil works for me. Put it on after your shower and later try to get it off with your finger nails.

What do you use to remove the sticky from the surgical tape?

I used antibiotic ointment on mine and the sticky came right off. It also helped the incision to heal.

What do you use to remove the sticky from the surgical tape?

I know this is a little different, and may not be appropriate because of your incision, but I use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball or wad of toilet paper to get the sticky stuff off from my estrogen patch. But maybe you should ask your doc, because I don't know if you can use alcohol around your incisions. Hope this helps!

The best thing that I have found is alcohol. Try to use the 70%. Just rub lightly and rinse with water.

I have found that Skin-So-Soft helps with my vi-dot patches.
