Arthritis/bone spur sufferers--can you help me?

Hi...

I went to a chiropractor because of severe pain in my shoulder that would manifest itself while I am at work. X-rays were done and I was told that I have arthritis in the shoulders + bone spurs in the same area. The chiro does her chiro thing, and it feels great right then, but when I return to work...oh my. I work as a cook--lots of repetitive motions, lifting, and bending. The pain is pretty much unbearable.

I was experiancing this pain right before my hyst, but I thought that it was another fibroid related pain. I am understanding that the surgery positioning, strain on the back muscles and etc have aggravated this condition.

My reg doc (who is a new doc for me, have only seen her once) gave me some samples of "mobic", a arthritis med--it seemed to work at first, but the last couple of days the pain has pushed through. She had also suggested injections in my shoulder.

Sorry for the rambling, but all this is new and frightening. I am worried about working...I can hardly bear this agony!
Does anyone suffer from arthritis or spurs in the back...does the pain ever lesson? Can you reccomend any treatment?

I have always heard of "the agony of arthritis"...never thought I would be here!!
Thank you so much for any help you can offer...
Carol

Arthritis/bone spur sufferers--can you help me?

I suffer from shoulder and neck pain that is related to degeneration or osteoarthritis(wear and tear). I have had some relief from exercises my physical therapist has given me to do on a regular basis.
My husband has a hip pain that bothers him and the dr gave him a exercise to do for lower back that is helping.

Some people get good results from cortisone shots, so it might be worth a try.

I am sorry you are having this. It can be very painful and I understand how uncomfortable it can be.

If you cannot get relief or feel satisfied with who you are seeing, I recommend an orthopedic dr who specializes in what is giving you a problem. My orthopedic referred me to my physical therapist.

Take care of yourself

suzyQ23,

Thank you for the reply and advice.

My chiro's physical therapist has given me exercises to do also. I am supposes to do sets of them twice a day...sometimes I am not able to get them done completely. I think I will be more vigilant in the future!

I can't believe how serious of a situation this has become so quickly!
