6 months post- how are you doing?

I'm hoping that all of you sisters that have already made the journey can give me in sight into how I can expect to feel 6 months post.

I'm planning on having a TAH in August. In February I'm getting married and going to Hawaii for 3 weeks. Excatly 6 months to heal up. Will that be long enough? I'm trying to decide if I shoudl try and post pone surgery until after my wedding-moon.

Thank you!

Hi Tracie,

I didn't have a TAH, but after my TVH I was feeling pretty close to normal at 6 months. Of course, that's me. I had a twinge here and there, my energy level returned and I was doing well.

I'm sure someone who had a TAH will be along to give you some input!

Best wishes for a good surgery and Congratulations on you upcoming wedding!

Need experiences for how recovered I might be @ 6 months

Hi, I had a tah/bso about 3 years ago. At 6 months post op I felt pretty good. I was back to my normal life ( & it's pretty active). I did sometimes get a bit tired and have to rest some.

I think that whether or not you postpone your surgery is a personal decision - but I would just procede as scheduled. Hawaii sounds great to me. If you do still get tired - the beach sounds like a wonderful place to rest

Best wishes.

I'm at 7 months now, and the six month mark was when I finally felt like I was "me" again and I could see all the benefits of the hyst. I feel great! I did, and still do, get a little tired easily (which could be from alot of things), and the occasional twinge, but all in all I feel great. It's hard to give advice on this one, because every sister is different. But I was doing really good at six months. Back to normal, pretty much! Congrats on your wedding and I hope you have fun in Hawaii!

Hi Traciem,

Congratulations on your wedding and I'm sure you'll enjoy the honeymoon .... Hawaii!! ... how lovely!

I had a TAH/vertical incision Feb. 28, which means I'm almost four months post-op. Everyone heals differently but I felt back-to-normal with my energy levels back in gear at about three months post-op.

The only remaining evidence is (1) the scar and (2) the occassional very tiny twinge.

So I think you should be fine.

Best wishes for your future, both post-op and post-wedlock.

Keep well,

Need experiences for how recovered I might be @ 6 months

Six months after my tah/bso I was feeling pretty good. DH and I met up with some friends in the British Virgin Islands and we sailed for a week. It was the one of the best vacations we have ever had. We didn't want to leave. The only problem I had when I got back was "sea legs". For awhile I still felt like I was on that sailboat!

As said, we are all different, but Hawaii sounds like a very relaxing place to be six months post op. I'd go for it!!!

Need experiences for how recovered I might be @ 6 months

Im nearing 10months from my tah, and I've travelled to disneyland at 6 months for a week ,and alaska for a week via cruise. I had no problems with either, and I walked my butt off from morn till midnight at disney, went on every single ride, no problems. I feel fantastic.

If you have the surgery now, than you won't have to worry about having a period while in paradise, and it wouldn't interfer in your honeymoon night either. Just an added bonus
