Hyst, anterior posterior repair altogether

Hi everyone,
I am 1 week post op. I am new to the website and live in the UK.
I had a hysterectomy due to heavy irregular bleeding and a Uterine prolapse. It was supposed to be a vaginal hyterectomy but urgeon couldnt get it all out.. due to a fibroid and so she did an abdominal op too. They told me the prolapse was grade 1 - what does that mean?

I had a posterior repair and anterior repair done at the same time. Has anyone else had this done?

I am suffering from sudden mood swings but reading your website has helped me see this can be normal how long do the mood swings go on for?

I am also experiencing a strange sensation on the skin of my tummy around and well above my scar - its like a hyperensitivity to touch and movement. has anyone else had this and what can I do ??

Hoping to hear from someone......

Hyst, anterior posterior repair altogether

HI JooB,

I'm glad you have joined us. I hope you will find the support and information you need here. As you recover you might want to look at Checkpoints and the Post-Op Articles. There is a lot of good information that will help you know what to expect and might answer some of the questions that come up.

I had similar things done with my surgery too. I didn't have the incision though. I'm sorry you had to go through both procedures, but hope your outcome is good. You may need to give yourself some extra time to heal. We're all different in how fast we heal, but the more you have done usually the longer it might take to fully recover.

I have a really good article on Pelvic Prolapse It explains the different grades of prolapse and what they mean and most anything you might want or need to know about different prolapses.

We're all different in what kinds of affects we have from hormone fluctuations. Even though you kept your ovaries they can sleep or rest for a while and cause some of the mood swings you're experiencing. If they're severe sometimes doctors will give something to help get you through. If this continues be sure to ask your dr about it.

I didn't have the incision so can't help you with that. I hope your recovery goes well. Rest and drink your water. Get some walking done throughout the day as you feel up to it. Let us know how you are doing.

's, Rita
