Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

I started bleeding last Monday (a week ago)...similar to a period. It varies in intensity. Nothing overly heavy....but it is dark red and does drip in the toilet at times. I've had nothing at all during my first 2 weeks post op. Now, week 3...bleeding!!! What's up with this? I had a hysterectomy to resolve this problem, and now my poor underside STILL needs protection! It hasn't seen the light of day since January....prior to my edometrial ablation! I'm getting a bit frustrated here!

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

Hi, Roz!
Perhaps you should give the good doctor a call. I know sometimes there can be a little bleeder up in the cuff that needs a touch of silver nitrate.
When in doubt, call!

Roz,

I agree, I think it would be a good idea to check with your doc about this bleeding. When I was released I was instructed to call if I had any bleeding that resembled a period.

I know it must be very frustrating to have to deal with this; perhaps if you describe it to the doc they can put your mind at ease. It sounds like overall you are doing very well, and you don't want to ignore this problem. Perhaps it is a problem with the cuff, in which case they can treat it.

Hope you get this resolved soon and continue with a smooth recovery!

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

Hi Lisa -
I've watched you on this site as your stats are similar to mine (in terms of procedures, although I'm a couple of years older than you). What were you doing last Monday when the bleeding started? Have you been doing too much? I must admit that every time I go to the bathroom I'm just waiting to see red on the toilet paper - so far so good, but I know I'm not out of the woods yet. I KNOW how frustrated you must be - the same way I felt after my ablation didn't work (turns out I had a fibroid that wasn't visible in the ultrasound . . . ). When in doubt, call the doc - if nothing else, it will make you feel better!!

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

Lisa,
It's been a week and you're still bleeding?!? You know even with all the problems I've had with spotting I've never needed a pad, it's only been on the tissue. I think it's time to call doc even though you were just there last Wed. And I know how you feel, I didn't have EA so I could keep bleeding and I surely didn't have hyst so I could keep bleeding but I kept cervix and ovaries and get to have mini periods. You kept nothing and should be having nothing! Call the doctor, I know it's a little difficult to make than appt when you know she's going to have to take a look/see but then that's the only way to figure out what's wrong. And if she thinks it's granulation and you have to have a silver nitrate treatment some sisters say they experience nothing, I experienced a burning/cramping sensation while he was doing it and kind of felt like I had an ablation again for 2-3 days afterwards (you know that burnt feeling). I was kind of glad I had pain pills left from my surgery because I took 1/2 of one when I got home from dr. I also had brown and bloody discharge along with black stuff for a few days. Let us know what you find out!

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

dirtdiva......first let me say I like your name! It looks like your ablation and hysterectomy were almost identical time-wise as mine! When I started bleeding last Monday, I wasn't doing anything. That's why it shocked me. I've been laying low here....doing some daily walking is all. We'll see how things are tomorrow. I hate to keep calling my doctor....I feel like a "frequent flyer"!

Cindy....
Here we go again!! I must have "dumb luck" stamped on my forehead!! I was so psyched after having the hysterectomy. No bleeding or discharge for 2 weeks!! Woo-hoo!!! Then........just when I thought I was safe!! I'll see how it goes tomorrow and may call the doctor. I know that she is in surgery on Tuesdays, but she has a fabulous nurse practitioner in there who I could talk to if need be (that is, if I'm still bleeding and if I get my courage up!).
I'll keep you posted!
Thanks for caring!

So Lisa - I'm curious . . . why did you end up needing to go the hyster route after Novasure?

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

Kim,
Well, believe it or not...I had NON-STOP discharge.....EVERY day since my ablation in January. Nearly 5 months of the yuck-yuck stuff. And I was "cycling" every 2 weeks so the discharge would pick up at that time. I had just had enough of it and my quality of life was not improving!! So now, I'm a bit frustrated that I STILL have something coming out of me! Enough is enough already!
As it turned out, my uterus was "spent"...."ka-put"......needed to come out. Now if I can just throw these feminine pads away for good!!

Hang in there my friend, you are closer than you have been before. This little bleeding episode is just a minor setback and you are on your way to FREEDOM!!

Thinking the good thoughts,

Still Bleeding.....GRrrr!!

I am 45 yrs old, and 27 days out from my LAVH-BSO (done on June 1) and I'm still bleeding/spotting. I have to change mini-pads 2x/day. <sigh>

I think that my post op instructions from the dr said this would happen. (At my 2 week appointment he told me to not throw away the mini-pads just yet), but to report any bleeding that was heavy like a period.
