anxiety attacks now ?
I used to have bad anxiety attacks years ago. They stopped. Now they are back. Sometimes I get this feeling that someyhing is teribly wrong inside. Of course as far as I can tell everything is progressing normally. I just wish my bladder would get back to normal. I know it`s just going to take time.

anxiety attacks now ?
I've never had panic attacks in the past and now suffer from terrible ones when trying to fall asleep at night. My dr put me on ativan at bedtime and it has helped tremendously.
Definately metion it to your dr. If your not taking anything now Im sure he/she will give you something to help you relax. From what Ive read its quite normal post op.

anxiety attacks now ?
I've been having panic attacks also since I had my surgury on the 3rd (TVH/TVT). What an awful feeling to think "I'm going to die" or "pass out". I had an episode on the 9th and went to the ER. Then I had another one today. My heart was skipping and it wouldn't stop, felt like passing out, had tingling sensation all over arms and chest. Tried to calm myself down but it just didn't work, so I went to Dr. and he gave me Xanax. I'm going to have my heart checked out and possibly see a psychiatric Dr. to see what's the best med to take for this. I just want my normal life back. I want to go back to work. I feel like a big burden to everyone. I feel sorry for anyone who has this problem. You feel lost and helpless....I know I do.

I am also taking ativan for anxiety and panic, just going to call the doc today to see about more - I keep reminding myself that this is major surgery recovery time and to take deep breaths. Going to sleep and waking up are the hardest times for me, we all have a lot of spare time for our brains to do whatever they please! I also pray alot! Happy healing, and breathe in, breathe out!!
Hugs, Heather

I used to get very anxious right before bedtime too. What happens is, everything you were thinking about during the day drops away, leaving your brain wide open to welcome fear. This becomes a habit. To overcome this habit, you simply need to create positive mental associations for bedtime. Worked for me!
Make sure your bed and surrounding area are welcoming and comfortable, maybe with stuffed animals etc.
Just as importantly, train yourself to think pleasant, happy thoughts and imagine beautiful things (a garden, people dancing in ballgowns, etc.) as you get into your bed, turn off the light, get comfortable and drop off to sleep.
If you really have to think serious thoughts, save it for a time of day when you feel strong. And never dwell on them.

anxiety attacks now ?
thank you for the practical advice - a friend asked me what I dream about, because I wake up the same way! My hubby works nights, so about half of all evenings I am alone, which makes anxiety very hard to fight! I do appreciate practical advice - I spend a great deal of time in prayer over this but sometimes practical tidbits are just the thing
You are more than 2 months out, I am at just 2 weeks, same TAH for fibroids, 6" "bikini" incision (I find it funny that they call it that, I haven't owned a bikini since I was 8!)

anxiety attacks now ?
I have suffered from panic attacks for 27 years and the weird thing is since my surgery I haven't had even one. I normally can't let anybody drive me in the car or anything. So for some reason my panic disorder has seemed to leave for now. I can only pray that it stays that way. It has been almost three weeks now and no panice. I pray that all of you who are suffering that it goes away quickly. I know first hand what it is like to have your life ruined by them. I have been a prisoner in my own world off and on for 27 years. My prayers are with all of you. May you be panic free quickly
Hugs,
Cheryl
