I gained 65 lbs and can't lose it

Hey there!

Thought I would go ahead and reply...

Have you had your thyroid panel checked lately?

You will need to have the TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 checked. Don't let the doctor tell you the Free T's aren't important, because they are the most important.

Also, are you on any HRT? If so, that could be your cause as well.

Isn't it terrible that there are so many different things that we can eat or take or have no control over that can cause us such problems.

I am one that tends to retain water like crazy, but with really increasing my water intake and only drinking water - nothing else... it has helped.

There are just so many possibilities out there.

Best wishes to you in your mission to find out the answers!!!

I gained 65 lbs and can't lose it

I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. I am only 4 mo. out, and so far have not gained any weight. However, I can see the excess around my waist and abdomen. This is a concern for me as well, as I have read many posts about weight gain, etc. I am currently not taking hormones (dr did not recommend) and I am 50 yrs. old. I would like to think that exercise will help me maintain, but not so sure that is true. I sure hope someone will be able to help you with this question. Believe me, I really do know how you feel. It just seems we can't win, no matter what we do. Hang in there!

The only bright spot in your message is that we're not alone! I thought it was just me gaining weight despite cutting back on my food and excercising more than ever. It is so discouraging!!! I am 8 monthes post op and no HRT due to Hx of breast cancer. If I'd known this would happen, I may have not had the surgery despite my GYN and breast Surgeon's suggestions. I don't see my DR until October and hopefully she'll recognize me with the weight I've gained! Good luck, I'n here with you!
