Compound hormone creams

Hi all. I feel like I'm just asking one question after another. I am going my primary doc tomorrow and I want to make sure I get every question/concern in that I can. I am interested in compound hormone creams. Is there one that contains all hormones? If my insurance does not pay for them, are they expensive? Thanks for your input.

Compound hormone creams

Hi Carol!

You could get all hormones in one cream, but it's not a very good idea to do it that way. If they are all combined together, there is no way to tweak one without affecting the others. I think it makes getting balanced harder than it has to be.

Did you call your insurance company to find out if compounds are covered? That's the surest way to find out.

I'm sure prices vary, but I can share that at the first compounding pharmacy I used a one month supply was $32, with a discount for each additional hormone refilled at the same time. So, I could get my estrogen for $32, and then pay $16 for progesterone and $16 for testosterone if I got them all filled at the same time. I have changed pharmacies and I haven't filled my new progesterone prescription yet so I don't know how much it will be. I think my testosterone was around $40 without insurance there, but that jar will last for months.

Good luck at your appointment tomorrow! You'll let us know how it goes, right?

Compound hormone creams

Hi April Dawn. You are always so helpful. I found out that there is one pharmacy called The Medicine Shoppe that is in town that does compound hormones. I am going to ask that my levels be done tomorrow. I'm hoping to find some answers. The worst problem for me right now is a terrible brain fog. I can't concentrate at all. I was actually having trouble in that department before surgery but now it is much worse. The doctor had put me on antidepressants before and that made me feel even worse and I will not go back on them. Maybe my testosterone is low? I don't know, but I sure hope I can find some answers. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. lol
