Now I have to wait out the long weekend :(
I had a follow up pap last Thursday. Results there normally only take a few days, but I waited until yesterday to call. They said they didn't have them yet. I called again today because I really didn't want to have to wait until Tuesday. I guess they were busy & said there was no one available to give me the results. That alone makes me worry a little since it seems like if it were normal, they could just tell me that. Right?? Would you all assume the same??
So, I was out of the house & gave them my cell phone number. They never called back. When I got home around 5:30pm, I checked the home phone to see if anyone had called. The nurse called my HOME phone instead of my cell :burning: She had just called 15 minutes before I got home & said to call her back Tuesday. I tried calling her back anyway, even though I knew the office was closed, but of course I got their voicemail.
Now, I get to worry about this all weekend. Ugh! I have had so many run-ins with incompetent people lately & I've just had it!
Thanks for letting me vent, lol.

Hi samikins!
I am feeling the frustration with you all the way!!!
I had a biopsy done over a week ago and I will know nothing until the 8th!!! I am really getting anxious over it. Waiting is so very hard.
I hope you will be okay.

I know exactly what you mean. I go through that each and every time it comes to getting test results. Don't they realize that by leaving a message to call back on Tuesday on a long holiday weekend is so incredibly frustrating!
Getting back to "if it is normal - why would they just not say it is normal". My doctor does the same for some crazy reason. I think it is just office procedure especially with Onc. due to the fact that results can vary with each individual. I would not be concerned at all. I am sure everything is just fine.
Enjoy your weekend.

waiting...bahh
I understand the waiting game and the toll it takes but looking back over all my experiences, I see a pattern..if a result is expected in a week to 10 days..and a week to 10 days go by, it has always turned out ok. Now, if told it will take that long and I get a phone call sooner than that...it's usually not good. I recently had an mri. I asked very specifically how long it will take to get the results. They said it would have to be read by someone in another city..then faxed back and then my doc's office would give me a call or I'd be able to go over the results at the next appt.. Well.. I got a call the VERY NEXT DAY. Hmm. Imagine that. Things that are bad seem to find their way back to the doc almost immediately. I'd say that your calls to the office have just kept them aware that they need to communicate with you and they are doing that. Since enough time has gone by..I'd say it's probably ok. Take a deep breath and try to relax until Tuesday. I know..harder than it sounds. Enjoy the weekend as much as possible..

Now I have to wait out the long weekend :(
We can keep each other company--my results are supposed to be in on Tuesday. He always tells me to wait about 2 weeks before calling. I hate the wait!
I hope you get terrific news on Tuesday. Unitl then, try to keep busy so you can't think about it too much.

Now I have to wait out the long weekend :(
HI!
Along the lines of what Josie said about quick calls -- I had that conversation with my doc when I went in for my first followup Pap on 6/22. She said they would get the results in about a week but that it would take about 3 weeks before they would mail them to me. And when I followed up and asked "so if they're not good I'll get a call in about a week" she laughed and said that is how it works. So "no news is good news" -- at least with my clinic. So'd I'd have probably had a heart attack if the clinic had called me this week even if they had been good!!!!
Now there's no reason that I couldn't have called them and been sure -- but I guess I'm in positive thinking mode right now and just waiting for that "normal" letter in the mail. Or maybe I just don't want to know if they're not good. Lol.
Hang in there and enjoy your holiday weekend. Worrying won't change the results. I know that's easier said then done.......

Hi Sammy,
Hope you have good news by now!
It was funny with me -- about an hour after I posted on Saturday saying that my clinic mails good results in about 3 weeks, I got my results in the mail (actually took about 10 days) -- Normal!!! Yippee!!!!

Now I have to wait out the long weekend :(
Thanks so much everyone. I did finally get in touch with them today & it was normal. I guess I don't go back for 6 months now? Someone else told me she went every 3 months for a year, but my doc didn't seem to think I should've had a pap this soon. I just wasn't comfortable waiting that long.
This may sound really strange & I had the same feeling last time...why is it that I don't seem happier about the results (to myself anyway)? I don't get it. That's crazy I know & confusing! lol
Anyway, thanks for the thoughts & posts!!

Congrats on the clear results!
I just wanted to let you know you are not the only one who struggles with feeling "happy" about the results. I too just got my pap back yesterday - negative - this after a high grade one two months ago that they couldn't see anything on colposcopy. I'm trying really hard to feel relieved, but I still have this sense that something is missing. It is a good thing I have an appointment with my gynecologist next week..she is going to get grilled with tons of questions.
I am on a 6month follow up protocol as well - I hate the length of time I need to wait. I would much prefer to go every three months, but my gyn said it is not necessary. Sigh.
Karen
LEEP removed Stage 1a1 squamous cervical cancer; first follow up clear; second follow up high grade changes - no lesion seen on colpo; repeat pap - negative
