Should I ask for a hormone test to check???

I go for my 6 week check on Thursday and I've been thinking about the whole hormone thing.

Before surgery, it was supposedly fluctuating hormones causing most of my problems. I had had 2 blood tests over the last 5 years which showed things were out of kilter but not that I was peri-menopausal. I've had regular hot flushes for the last year, but again, nothing to do with menopause, apparently.

Surgery left me with one ovary. How do I know it is still working? I haven't had any hot flushes since, but I have had 2 night sweats in the last week (maybe I had too many blankets on). Otherwise, I don't feel any different.

Should I ask for a hormone test on Thursday? Will it really tell me anything? Do I just sit tight and wait for changes in my body? Any ideas?????

Should I ask for a hormone test to check???

ritzley,
I had a saliva test done at 2 weeks post op (I will be 4 weeks post op on Tuesday). I STILL have not heard back regarding the results and where I am at. Currently, I have no ovaries and am not taking any hormones. However, my days seem to be getting worse and worse. One moment I'm just fine and the next, I get moody and could just cry. I can't sleep at night and wake up VERY hot (we have central air conditioning!). So, tomorrow, I am going to call my doctor and beg for an appointment. I believe that I need to be put on something to help ease these symptoms.

This is a great subject to discuss with your DR at your visit on Thursday, especially since your hormones were part of your original problem. The DR may want to test you or may simply want to keep an eye on your symptoms now.
