TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

Hi sisters!
I am two weeks post op and feel really good most of the time. I went shopping yesterday at the mall with DH and DD and got really worn out after only 2 1/2 hours even with short breaks to sit down. I was wondering how long most of you were off from work. I see my doctor for a 2 week check up tomorrow and I will ask him, but I was just wondering if most of you took the whole 6 weeks off or even longer. I am so scared that he will tell me that I can go back to work next week and I don't think that I am ready. My checkbook tells me to go back to work ASAP, but my new found sanity tells me to take it easy and enjoy my recovery time while I can. What did you sisters do?

TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

I had a TVH on May 3rd and returned to work after 2 weeks. I went back part time for the first week and then full-time after that. I do computer design, so i sit most of the day. I guess it depends on your job. I had a pain free recovery, with slight discomfort (like I had a baby). Dr. had said I'd be off for up to 4 weeks max, but felt so good and so was bored after 2, that I went back early. Listen to your body ... even after 8 weeks I'm still quite tired by evening, but otherwise I'm totally back to normal.
Good Luck

TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

I had a TAH/BSO and returned to work fulltime at 3 weeks. I have a desk job and did not have a problem with fatigue. Last week was my first week back and it was managable, but tiring. As the day progressed, so did the size of my stomach. I was glad for the 3 day weekend to rest up! I would have loved to take 6 weeks but could not afford it and my coworkers were working so much overtime to cover for me. I think alot of people have anxiety about going back to work, just as they had anxiety about the hyst. I know I did and it turned out fine.
Best Wishes!

TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

Hi,

I went back at 6 weeks, but felt best at 8 weeks. I went back to a desk job, so there was a lot of sitting. I did have a hard time with sitting, but I did have a rectocele repair with my TVH. I found I was tired after work and it took awhile to get my energy back and not feel so tired. It was hard to get up early again and I was used to taking a short nap in the day. I sure did miss that.

Good luck on your recovery and going back to work.

TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

I took one week off and then went back to work. HOWEVER, I have a desk job and only work part time (24 hours a week) - the first couple of days I only worked 4 to 5 hours. I am now 4 weeks out and doing great - although I do tire more easily than pre-surgery. But as everyone has said, we are all different and must listen to our own bodies!!

TVH Sisters, when did you go back to work?

I had a TVH/TVT on June 3rd and I returned to work today (July 4th). Slept four hours when I got home. I had a difficult recovery during the 4 weeks I was home and was scared to return to work. After surgery I had developed panic attacks and had a hard time going into public places...still do. I was put on medication and feel more relaxed. I work in a psychiatric unit, so if I have a panic attack, what better place to be if it occurs! It's nice to be off work, but I am glad to be back with my co-workers who are also very supportive. I want my life back and I want to feel good.

I worked full-time from home the first week and then moved back into the office over the next two weeks, but also have a desk job. Try not to compare being at the mall with your work unless the activities are similar. I'm tired after 2 1/2 hours at the mall any day, before or after surgery. At two weeks, I would have been utterly exhausted, yet working did not wear me out like that.
