biopsy results in, now another decision
well, my biopsy results from the endometrium are negative (yeah!!!!!), and my doctor took me off the lupron, because of my lupus and the side effects i was having. it has been 4 weeks since my last injection and i am starting to have killer cramping again. now my dr wants to do an ablation. he says after the failed ablation we will do a total abdominal hysterectomy. he says it will help the heavy bleeding, but not the pain. i have read alot on this, and alot of people say that they wish they skipped the ablation. i am feeling, like i dont want to waste my time, but i dont know if i should tell my doctor this. i dont want to seem difficult, but since feb. i keep doing more tests just to put off the inevitable. first i had my lap. which should multiple adhesions, 5 sonos, which showed thick endometrium stipe, a couple uni-locular cysts. then mri which showed the same. i really thought the mri would have shown adenomyosis. i did the lupron for 3 months. i dont have irregular bleeding, just heavy bleeding with terrible pain in abdomin, lower back down legs, ibs, very painful intercourse. what do u think i should tell my dr? should i just agree to the ablation? please advise me

biopsy results in, now another decision
Hi Mary ~
I'm one who doesn't regret my ablation. It was an easy procedure for me and certainly worth a morning of my time to give it a try. I would have even done a repeat ablation had I been a candidate for it. Because you have additional health issues that may respond to the body being under stress, it sounds like an ablation is a good choice for now. Remember, because this is a hysterectomy site you'll see many failed ablation stories here. There are many women who do have successful ablations ~ we just don't see them posting here.
This link has more info and some success stories that may be encouraging for you: Endometrial Discussion Group
Recently being on Lupron may increase your chances for a successful ablation, because your uterine lining should be somewhat thinner now. I did 3 months of Lupron prior to my rollerball ablation. Some docs don't require any pretreatment, some may do a D & C, and others prefer the ablation be done right after a woman has her period, when the lining has just been shed.
I'm saying a prayer you'll be a success story!
Best wishes & s, Beth

HI Mary, I had a ablation in feb and it did not work for me. It did lessen the clotting somewhat but the low back pain, cramps and general bleeding has not changed. I don't regret doing it, it was fairly painful for about 2 days, but I felt I should try all options before taking the final step. There is a specific site similar to this one re abaltions. I just can't remember the name try a search using endo ablation and you should find it. Good Luck

I'm having the NovaSure ablation done this Wednesday. I'm confident that it will be the answer I'm looking for to get me to menopause as I'm right on the doorstep. I realize that it may take a few cycles before I notice a difference, but it's worth a try to me.
I'll try to post afterwards and let everyone know how things went. Hopefully, I'll post a success story!
