Surgery july 18th,postop this monday
Ok I am starting to be more freaked out about my surgery. Iam having my ovaries removed and I know it is for the best, but Iam scared of menopause. Iam 31 years old. Will I be a raving nut case after surgery? Will I be the same? HELP!!!!! I know I won't cancel the surgery because I cannot stand the pain I have. But I would love some much needed encouragement as this next 10 days goes by. I hope I can calm down some. Im trying not to read to much about it, but Im the type of person who likes to know alot about what I will be dealing with soon. I hope my fellow sisters here can help. Lots of sisterly love.....

The Hormone jungle has a ton of articles and support whether you go hormone or no hormone. I'm 37 and scheduled for july 12th and won't be able to take any hormones. I do believe in the power of positive thinking I will be one of the lucky ones but I am also prepared 'just in case' I am so glad this site is here! Good luck on your surgery!

Hi Lindybindy!
I originally was to keep my ovaries, but they had to be removed due to extensive damage. When I awoke and found out the ovaries were gone, I laid and waited for the hot flash, night sweat and a myriad of other horrors. It has not happened yet and my procedure was 6/23/05. In fact, I feel emotionally better now than I have ever felt.
A good physician, great nurses and loving family has helped me. In addition, I found the Prayer forum on this website extremely helpful. There are so many encouraging posts there. There are also many good tips on the Hormone Jungle forum of this website related to hormone or non-hormone therapy.
I will be praying that you have a smooth procedure, terrific recovery, and most of all, peace.
Aiken
