Dhea

Is it appropriate to take DHEA while on hormone therapy? I am using 2.5% triestrogen/1% testosterone cream + vaginal estriol cream. I have some other health issues (recently diagnosed with IC). My energy level is better than it was but still not as good as I would like it to be. I am trying to pump myself up but have considered trying DHEA for a while for a little extra boost. Any ideas?

DHEA?

My Dr prescribed 25 mg DHEA. I found that even 12 mg makes me acne and irritable, so I take 5 mg per day and have been feeling OK, don't know if its helping anything or not. Hope others will reply.

DHEA?

Here's some info about dhea:

Anyone know about Dhea?

IMHO I wouldn't use it unless you have your doctor test your levels and be sure that your levels are low. I would only use it under a doctor's supervision.

Hi

I take 5mg/day of dhea in addition to estrogen and progesterone ( bio). I felt a great deal of clarity and energy after about a week of using Dhea. Both my naturopath doc, and bio pharmacist recommended it.

We don't need more than 5mg (10mg at the most!) per day. The 25mg's and up that the health food stores sell, are waaaay too much for women..

I stopped using my testosterone cream when I began the Dhea, I was using testost. for energy, and didnt really notice a difference with it, but def. feel more with the dhea..

My blood work showed my dhea to be in a "normal range", yet I still needed to supplement to feel better...

Good Luck!

DHEA?

My MD told me to take 25 mg. I had a blood test and that amount seemed adequate. In other words, I wan't too low or too high. I have had another MD tell me that most women have too much. So I agree that I wouldn't take it without an MD's supervision and confirming blood or saliva tests.

Hi

I still believe 25mg is too high for women. Much less will get the same results.

Watch for side effects.

God luck to everyone.
