Incision infection

Yesterday morning, I noticed that the area around my incision had become redder. I called my doctor and he asked me to come in. About half of my incision is very red (from TAH 6-13-05) and he said that 3 of my old stretch marks that run through the site are bulging. He put me on very strong oral antibiotics and will check me again Thursday. He mentioned cellulitis. I am feeling good with no fever and little to no pain. Anybody else ever have this problem? Thanks!

Incision infection

I haven't had any complications myself, but I had a TVH, so no visible incision to become infected. I'm sure you're not the only one-----everyone who has any kind of incision, cut, etc, is at risk for an infection. I'm glad you went to your doc and got some antibiotics. I wish you a speedy recovery!

Thanks for the information

I took the antibotics for 36 hours but felt much worse so called my doctor to say something wasn't just right. He had me come in right away and 6 hours later, I had emergency surgery to remove an internal absess the size of a golf ball. Everything is better but they are letting the incision heal from the inside out so that means going for wound care every day. (I have so much more appreciation for burn victums and others with abcesses.) Hopefully, they will be able to close the incision this Wednesday (August 3, 2005).

Incision infection

I'm glad to hear you got to the doctor and got it taken care of (although I'm sorry to hear you had an abcess). Hopefully this will be the last complication you have. Take care!
