Weight issue
I'm scheduled for my TVH on August 15th. I'm concerned about being over weight and having this surgery. I'm 5'4 and weigh about 208. Has anyone had problems with their surgery due to weight issues? I'd like to lose 50 lbs before then...but know that's not gonna happen.

Weight issue
Hi! I had my TVH on June 9th. I'm on the fluffy side as well. I have had no problems with the surgery----all went smoothly and the recovery is going smoothly as well. The weight has not been an issue with the hyst at all. I was up walking to the bathroom the night after my hyst (albeit slowly and a bit wobbly!), and walking the hallway at the hospital the day after. I would think you would do fine as well, but don't ever hesitate to ask your doc if you have any concerns. I'll be praying you have a smooth surgery & recovery!

Weight issue
Yep...I am a fluffy one too! I could have standed to lose a good 50 lbs. before surgery but that didn't happen!
I had a textbook surgery and recovery. No problems. I was up and walking around the next day, doing laps around the ward. Going to the bathroom on my own. When I got home, I tackled the stairs the first night and slept wonderfully in my bed.
The incision healed beautifully. Just remembered to keep the incision dry as swelly belly on top of normal belly made it hard!
I don't think your doctor would be performing the surgery if he/she felt your weight was a high risk issue. Many of us fluffy sisters are in excellent health overall, just are carrying a few extra pounds.
If you are concerned, have a chat with your doc to ease your mind. Best wishes to you on a successful surgery and recovery! You'll do great!

Weight issue
My doctor just told me that with my "poochy belly," it would make it a little more difficult to get to my organs. My lower belly hangs over a little, not much, so he gave me a horizontal cut in the fold. The downside of that is it's harder for air to get to so if you have the poochy belly, beware that it's easier for bacteria to breed there. The plus side is with me, it seems like it's healing faster, like there's less weight pulling down, so my incision is closed already 12 days post-op.
