Pre-OP Done..Finally

Had pre-op today. Got home around 3:00. My doc appt. was this morning at 10:20, which went well. He explained the procedure again to me and my darling DH and off to the hospital we went. It took a little while over there...not too bad. The nurse was very nice and took my blood and it didn't even hurt!!! She explained everything about my surgery and about being put to sleep. Ask a bunch of questions about medications and so forth. I will arrive at the castle 6:00 am tomorrow morning and my surgery should begin at 7:45. It's my docs first surgery of the day!!! Glad of that!! At least I want be laying around all morning. She said they would immediately take me up to the 6 floor where they'll be doing the surgery and starting prepping me!!! Will give me 5mg of valium right away so that I don't get to excited and so forth. Then I guess it all begins after that. I've already started my bowel prep...first taking two dulcolax and eating lite dinner...just soup or something. Have to give myself Fleet Enema before bed. You should have seen me and my dh in the grocery buying the enema. I was trying to cover it up w/groceries in the buggy!!! Funny!!! I'm not really looking forward to that part, but I guess it could be worse!! Nothing to eat or drink after midnight!!! Shower and brush teeth in the am and off to the castle I go!!!
I'm very nervous and ready to get this over with. My doc said I should be tucked in my room by lunch tomorrow. He said the procedure should only take 1-2 hours. I'm having LAVH. I will have morphine pump connected when surgery is done. Maybe that will keep the pain low!!! I should be up and eating by lunch the following day and then I can go home that afternoon as long as no complications!!!
Please pray for me and I know all of my wonderful sisters will be doing that!!! My prayers are with each and everyone of you!!
Thanks with all my heart and soul for being there and listening to me along my journey. I will post as soon as I'm home and let you all know how things are going. I hope it will all be positive experiences for all of us!!!
Hugs!!

Good luck to you and I wish you the best on your surgery and recovery. Just remember there are a lot of us who have been to the castle already and have gone down the road you are about to travel so we will be thinking about you and here for you when you get back. Lots of hugs and well wishes.

Karen,

The LAVH is traditionally quicker from which to recover as opposed to the other procedures, so that's great!

You are lucky your DH allowed you to try to "hide" the enema. Back when I was married, my DH and I went shopping. We ended up with a few groceries and a huge package of TP, which I always buy in bulk. When the checker was nearly done, my darling DH picked up the TP, looked at me, and loudly asked "hon, do you think we got enough groceries to go with this much toilet paper?"

I hope your journey to princesshood goes as smoothly and as uneventful as mine did. I will be praying for you!

(((Babiesone1963))),

It sounds to me like you are all ready to go!!! Be sure and drink lots of water today (it helps with hydration during surgery), and try to get a good nights sleep tonight. You are on my prayer list for tonight and tomorrow. I will be praying for a quick and easy surgery and a speedy and easy recovery.

When you get home, make sure you get plenty of and and let us know how you are doing, but don't spend too much time on the computer your first few days home. It can hurt sitting up too long.

s and prayers,
Kay

Babiesone,
I wish you an uneventful sugery and recovery. I know how you feel, I have to do 1 enema 9 pm
Sunday night, and 1 at 5:30 am when I get up Monday morning. I don't believe I will be a happy Princess to be when I walk into the Castle that morning.
May God be with you and protect you,
Shelly
